Is this overlay/ advice for newbie!
    #26461822 - 01/31/20 09:29 AM (4 years, 17 days ago)

Hi all!  I’ve started my first bulk case grow 2 weeks ago from spawn bags (2 trays of KSSS & 2 trays of Goldens)
I unfortunately misunderstood when to induce fruiting and introduced the lighting well after the top was pretty well colonized....I’m wondering if these photos are signs of overlay and in need of scratching?  All 4 trays have nothing pinning/growing from the center but only from the sides.

As this is my first attempt I’ve definitely learned what to do next time (lined trays/intro lighting when mycelium peeks through, etc) but I’m not sure if this side growth pattern is typical of bulk case grows ?  The forums tend to point to 2 camps of either the overlay/scratching team and the DO NOT SCRATCH EVER team, lol,!  Should I just be a patient puppy and wait it out?

Thank you for all advice/assistance!

You can put into fruiting at spawn and have 12/12 light cycle the myceliums whole life. From petri to harvest. The surface conditions must have been off. Is it dry? Did it have beads of moisture on the surface?
Is it in a Martha?

Don’t scratch, make sure when youre reading threads that they’re not more than a few years old.

Overlay isn’t really a thing with cubes.

That ksss looks pretty good, idk if you did something different with it or its just more tolerant of the conditions.  The surface conditions need some work on the gt but otherwise everything looks on track.

Next time try putting an extra layer of coir on top after you mix up the tub.

Thank you Hobbit, good to know!!  Yes, they are in a Martha kept at a steady 90% humidity...no droplets/water on surface...if anything maybe the opposite (dry-Ish) which confused me...the top looks a bit dry and the sides shrunk/ pulled in quite a bit all around.  The temp has been hovering from 77-79 degrees but I’ve since dropped the temp to 74-76 from reading around.

Hahaha, love the name Weaviewonder!!
Yeah I know, I think I was primarily thrown by all the folks that have experienced the same scenario (shrooms only along the sides /dryish top, shrinkage, etc.) that have scratched that claim that it sets off a lot of pins/growth in the center area. I was definitely drooling over all the full canopy porn of their results!  I’ll definitely know better next time and just wait this one out, lol! :amanita2:

I'm pretty sure this forum will always be haunted by old, outdated, or otherwise incorrect info. Their data retention policy seems to be in the decades

Good luck with your grow sir!
