No light for 2 days during fruiting cycle * 1
    #26461488 - 01/31/20 04:42 AM (4 years, 17 days ago)

So my substrates are in a fruiting cycle. No pins yet but very distinctly getting close.

Having a parent visit/stay at my place for a couple days.

This is a problem because I have my cfl lights on a 12/12 cycle with lights on at night. My place is not very big and there would be a high chance of them opening the wrong door and finding the grow w lights on.

So what would be the impact of no lights on a shoebox for 2 days/Completely in the pitch black darkness/no exposure to light.. when it's used to already being in a regular light cycle?

Please no answers like don't have them over or just keep an area off limits because it's not an option.. whatsoever in any scenario. Or something like find a new parent. The consequences of them finding out would be pretty bad too.

I don't know the answer to the 2 days no light.

Do you have a well-trusted friend that could take on your box and light until they left? (Probably least good option because it involves moving something delicate, twice and involving another person.)

Perhaps get a battery powered light of some sort. Flashlight, camping lantern. That way it could all be packed into a bigger box and stored at the bottom of a pile in the closet or something.

If it comes down to it, scrapping a small box of shrooms to avoid an uproar could also be the answer- not knowing your situation exactly, you'd have to make that call. Good luck!

Literally not a helpful answer to this situation.

So wait it's not your place then?

Anyway you'll have to scrap it or leave the lights off if you literally make all the good options off limits

These are good ideas. Potentially will get an LED strip light w adhesive and put in a cabinet or a big box.

It is my place in my name but it gets tricky because parent has helped a ton with financial support and the place is also very small/would look suspicious if they saw a lock on door. In any scenario if they picked up any scent that I was growing they would pull financial support for things like medical bills immediately/it would hurt the relationship.

I had accidently kicked my timer once and the light came unplugged for almost a week during pinning. Shrooms still grew, but not straight up.

2 days with no light youll be fine, and hopefully you will get several more flushes after this.

Also window light is enough to fruit also if thats an option for you.

They may look wonky grown with no light.
A cabinet hardly seems like a safe place or off limits. Where's a box going to go?

Am moving soon so it might look less suspicious but you are definitely right that it is not foolproof to do in cabinet.

The box could go behind chairs next to other boxes which would open at night to turn on an off a switch. Do need to accept the worst case consequences if it comes down to it.

Nicely wrap a light blanket over and around it and position it in a corner with some little knickknacks and pictures on it. Bunch of little tiny stuff too tedious to fuck with. Away from where it might be kicked or sat on or some shit. Tape it shut and make sure it's full and ridged enough not to collapse if someone sets a book or drink on it.

Or tape it shut, write something benign on it and put it at the bottom of your storage closet.

Lights on for 2 days prolly better than no light for 2 days, eh?

Im sorry but if you think mushrooms are just naughty drugs the kids take you are miles off.  Im 50 and mI give my kids shrooms not to take all the other shit out there.  Taken right they are the medicine of the planet and you need to teach these old people the truth.

Other option is grow things like oyster mushrooms and shitaakee and mix it in with that.  It shows creativity and skill when we will know it is stealth mixed in.  Be strong be proud!

Which one of these would a lamen know is active?

Out of curiosity, what are you using for a light? I know this is probably in your 2017 TEK list somewhere, but if you see my post count, this question will make a lot more sense.

I think they'll be pretty ok with no light for 2 days. Definitely not ideal. but shouldn't ruin everything

I just recently had my parents and sister find out about me growing mushrooms. I don't think illegal mushrooms were their first thought. They came by when I was at work to see what to get me for christmas (got a new place earlier last year) and saw some of my grow. My mom asked me about it the next day and I was taken aback at first but I just played it off and told her it was a hobby of mine and I just grow for the fun of it and I likened it to gardening and growing flowers and that seemed to satisfy her enough. I feel like I could have told her that I grow them to take and trip and she wouldn't have been mad but very few people know I grow and I was caught off guard quite a bit.

I think most people don't really know what fresh psychedelic mushrooms look like so they might not immediately assume they are illegal and are just mushrooms. Although I do live in a desert and I've only seen mushrooms in the wild a handful of times so I could be wrong. Maybe if you played it off and didn't try and hide it they wouldn't think so much about a tub of mushrooms in your place. I definitely don't know your situation but it's something to consider

I really don't think no light for 2 days will hurt your sub. You may have a batch of odd mushrooms for a couple of days. But I think the battery powered lamp is a good substitute for that. Or put it in a bigger card board box and close the lid. Hide it in a corner and Mark it with something unimportant like cloths. Or porn stash.

cleverly disguised as a Porn stash

Going with no lights for 48h probably ain't gonna screw them much, maybe you might wanna stash the box some where a few gradients lower in temperature to possibly stall the uneven growth?
