coronavirus hype
    #26460186 - 01/30/20 12:40 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

why is everyone crazy about kobe bryant dying and coronavirus, it has killed 60 people thats it!

770,000 died from HIV AIDs in 2019 and this CNN report shows that 12000 die in US from all types of flu...

this is just a dumbing down of people, why are we being lied to by social / mass media

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/30/health/flu-deadly-virus-15-million-infected-trnd/index.html

Quote:

The Centers for Disease Control predicts at least 12,000 people will die from the flu in the US every year. In the 2017-2018 flu season, as many as 61,000 people died

I see no one else wasted any time on this, but if you don't feel somewhat bad for someone who was a semi reasonable decent person then you my friend lack emotions that make people human.

I never knew Kobe, but damn, the fact that he and his daughter died in a helicopter crash that they couldn't control definitely made me feel some sadness.

The dude invested in things that were actually important.

Because the Coronavirus has the capacity to kill 60 million people and this years flu does not?

If we hadnt insisted on giving more and more money to the 0.1% we would've.

Now we just have an astonishing number of multi-bilionaires, amidst the poor and the potholes.

LOL, vape pens.

Talking to a person on the other side of the world on video call is pretty awesome, as is all human knowledge on a phone and mail order drugs, but for the most part, the future looks pretty dystopian IMO.

The drugs are better and more available

Your phone has more power than a whole 1980s computerstore full of computers

Music and movies have become essentially free

We got the INTERNET with 4 billion people contributing to it.

The Shroomery.

There are upsides to this deal.

As of today. 180,000 people have died from covid-19 in the U.S. alone... That's 25% of the total fatalities globally... Where did you come up with 60?

Nobody has died from coronavirus.

Coronavirus exists. It’s highly contagious. But it’s not fatal. Here’s how it all fits:

The average age of a covid death across the world is pretty much exactly the same as life expectancy in general. Even higher in some countries. This alone should tell you that it’s not killing anyone; if a virus was wiping out hundreds of thousands of people then the average age of death would go down, because obviously it would have to kill them before they would have died anyway. Since the average age of death isn’t going down, the virus isn’t killing people, people just happen to have it when they were going to die anyway.

Coronavirus doesn’t kill children. Black Death, bubonic plague, Spanish flu all killed tens of thousands of children, but not covid. Why? Toddlers don’t even have fully formed organs or immune systems and can literally die from being shaken too hard, yet they don’t succumb to this hellacious virus that’s killing hundreds of thousands? Nope, doesn’t make sense on even the most basic level. Coronavirus doesn’t kill children because it doesn’t kill anyone, people just happen to have it when they die, and children have a pretty high tendency to not die in the modern western world.

We heard reports of hospitals being flooded with patients needing intubation and life support earlier in the year. Talk to any healthcare worker; this happens literally every single flu season across the country and the rates were not affected by the appearance of covid.

2.8 million Americans died in 2018, and 2.9 million died in 2019. So far in 2020, 2.0 million have died, and we’re on pace for roughly 2.75 million deaths in the entire year. Fewer deaths during a deadly pandemic than during either of the past two years? Okay.

Bottom line: Coronavirus can’t kill toddlers yet we believe it’s killing hundreds of thousands of adults at pretty much exactly the same age that adults die. Use your brains a bit.

I'm sure all those that have lost loved ones to this thing would love to hear you tell them that.

How many people have you lost to it? Do you think the people during the bubonic plague needed the news or social media to tell them it was happening? No, they saw people dying in the streets all around them.

Would you even know this pandemic was happening if it wasn’t for the news?

And sure, people lost loved ones during this flu season and it’s terrible. But people lose loved ones all the time, the only difference here is that their loved ones tested positive for a symptomless virus at some point prior to or after their death. But considering that the life expectancy hasn’t changed, it seems unlikely that people are dying before they normally would have died anyway.

Because I have multiple friends that have seen people get sick and die from it. People I care about have lost family members to it.

It sickens me that people like you can be so callous about others suffering. I will not be responding to you again.

You’re great at appealing to emotion while failing to respond to statistical arguments.

I don’t doubt that maybe you know someone who knows someone who was diagnosed with covid and maybe they died.

But how can you genuinely say they didn’t die of the flu or a heart attack or a stroke, which altogether kill far more people in a year than “covid” is going to?

How do you explain that the average age of a covid death is virtually the same as life expectancy in general? If it’s killing people, surely it would be killing people before they were going to die naturally, meaning that the average age of a covid death should be lower than average life expectancy, right?

And why is the virus too weak to kill babies?

And why are fewer Americans going to die in 2020 than in 2019 or 2018?

You have no arguments, just heartstrings.

Can you tell me about it? Their symptoms, age and other health factors, how it was handled at the workplace, how much time they spent in the hospital, etc?

And discussion about the statistically unlikely lethality of a virus isn’t kosher on a forum about physical well-being? Scary talk from a mod.

You are not here to "discuss" the statistical unlikeliness and its clear.  You are here to spread misinformation.  Your very first statement is that people don't die from covid.  I'm here telling you that is factually incorrect and your grasp on how to read the statistics looks like bad math garnered from some youtube conspiracy site.

This forum section is not the place to pop off random youtube thoughts passed as fact.  There are COVID threads in the pub and elsewhere on the site if you want to discuss how you don't believe mainstream narrative or have viewpoints that go against the general scientific consensus.

I have literally posted facts that are readily available on the CDC website.

Also, I didn’t create this thread. It has been bumped multiple times since it was created 8 months ago and no one was ever threatened with it being off-topic until you saw statistics you didn’t like.

I think that if people are being forced to be anti-social, to separate themselves from their family and friends, to have to breathe a significant amount of their own breath mixed with a small amount of fresh air, to shut down their businesses and abandon their jobs, then statistics proving all of that unnecessary absolutely relate to physical and mental well-being.

The average age of Covid death in the US under case supervision is 78 years old.

https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/pdfs/mm6928e1-H.pdf

The life expectancy in the US is 78 years old

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/life-expectancy.htm

If a virus was killing hundreds of thousands of people, of course it would have to be killing them before they would have died anyway, right? So, please, discuss with me how life expectancy WITH Covid is exactly the same as life expectancy WITHOUT Covid? That literally, statistically states that no one is dying any earlier than they always have or always would have.

YouTube thoughts passed off as facts? CDC statistics that are fact.

Things not accepted by science or the CDC:  "Nobody has died from coronavirus"

You are spouting an uninformed and dishonest argument to push the idea that corona is somehow not as bad as it is.  Your statistics are very very basic and do not come anywhere close to representing the data needed to form a picture for your hypothesis.  Additionally correlation does not equal causation.

You also are trying to push the narrative that it's not corona itself that kills people, but other unrelated things, which is only partially factual.  Most diseases kill this way, the symptoms kill you.  Your argument makes about as much sense as someone trying to claim HIV isn't the issue when someone dies who has it.

Literally everything you have tried to push are things that come from science denier, conspiracy theorist, or far right propaganda networks.  Just because you take some statistics from a CDC doesn't mean you can manipulate them to fit your narrative and make it true.
