I'm not an expert so get another opinion... Some questions: How big is the tub? Have you been misting at all? How long since you mixed it all up? How long has it been fruiting?
It looks a little dry to my untrained eyes. I am a noob too. I let my small tub get dry at the start and have been misting regularly, but not a lot (like 4 to 8 squirts depending upon how it looks). I have been cautioned not to mist too much after it starts to fruit and never mist so it has standing water on it. It's a delicate balancing act. Good luck!

It's the same tub bod uses I believe it's a 54qt and I spawned it on the 11th and have not misted yet. I was told that you shouldnt have to mist until after the first flush so I'm confused as to why it would be drying out... i also just flipped the lid and introduced light at the start, as the directions said.

The tub will have the moisture that's needed for the first flush if you followed the tek. Might be too much free air exchange causing it to dry out.
Misting it won't cause any harm, don't worry about spraying the fruits they can handle abit of rain. Just don't want pools of water on the surface.
If that's your first grow ever, great job man looks like you gonna get lots of fruit

Awesome! Thanks guys, ya I’m pretty excited about the pinset! I’ve only ever used a small growkit which didn’t yield very much at all. Grains and agar seem to be a game changer so I decided to to do it right this time. I’m just kind of stuck with this part of it because I’ve never done a monotub and I don’t have the “eye” for surface conditions yet, just wanted to make sure it’s not drying out on me.... I’ll probably just hold off on the misting until after I harvest this flush.

I hope I didn't give you any bum dope earlier. I was just going by my observation of my small tub using the Bod coir only tek. It was dry on top after 4 days, so going forward I did mist it a little each day to keep the top fibers dark vs. light (i.e. dry) and cut back on the FAE for a while. It also did not get fully white on the surface but it did start pinning quite a lot on the 11th day. So success so far.
Just yesterday I started an unmodified 54 in the Bod way with the lid flipped (my first). My lid seemed a little warped though, (as compared to the Bod pictures) so it might be getting more FAE than intended. I will monitor and mist when needed. Like Kmacmo said, it won't hurt it.
I don't want to hijack your post, but I thought that a moist surface would help to stop side pinning. Anyone care to weigh in?

No harm done man... not a big deal thanks for trying to help.
What kind of tub do you have going that keeps drying out on you? But don’t worry about the thread either I got the answer I needed... I think anyways. I was just concerned because I don’t have any of those surface beads of water that you’re “supposed “ to have but if mushboy thinks it’s good it’s good...

It is just a 14" x 14" x 6" deep casserole dish That I threw together after I had some extra colonized grain from a g2g. I mixed it up with some coir and it seemed to be working out okay, but gets dry on top. I have some recent posts in getting started forum that show it. Here is a picture. .org/files/20-004/983234761-casserole_2.5_days.jpg] [/url]

Yeah that is the guide I was referencing about the small water beads on the surface...I never saw that on my surface but I've also heard people say you shouldnt have to mist until after the first flush so I was a little conflicted because I got one guy saying that you shouldnt really have to mist prior to first flush but at the same time I never saw those water beads on the surface, as mentioned in that surface conditions guide...
Anyway I just harvested a bunch of my fruits and I started by twisting and pulling them but I was taking huge chunks out with almost every fruit. So then I started cutting them at the base with a scalpel. So I'm wondering which is better? Leaving a little from the base by cutting it or pulling chunks out of the substrate along with the mushroom? Will this affect my second flush?
EDIT: nevernind I just looked over bods teks again and realized he has One on harvesting too... sorry guys.
