Mom Says: "I dare you to prove me wrong about the shrooms."

TL;DR my mother has demanded that I cite sources re: the safety and medical efficacy of psilocybin. If you've got links to research papers/good info/etc, post em plz.
Hello Shroomery! I've been lurking on here for about five years now, and cultivating (and tripping) on and off during that same time span. I'm 24 years old now, started shortly before my 19th birthday. My parents have been aware of my psychedelic usage pretty nearly the whole time; however, we never actually discussed shrooms to any degree, until now. As an adult I am pretty close to my parents and wanted to try to help them understand my choice to explore natural psychedelics. Over the past few months, I've had a number of conversations with them about the psychedelic experience, how it's safe and widely misunderstood, and how it's helped me accelerate my own personal growth over the years.
Even so, my parents have always been of the "drugs are bad, m'kay" mindset, and still remain very much unconvinced that psilocybin mushrooms carry any real merit. I doubt they will EVER reach the point of trying shrooms themselves, but I am hopeful that I can at least get them to the point of accepting the fact that shrooms have been hugely beneficial in my own life. My parents used to harbor the same animosity towards weed, but my little brother is manic bypolar and has found that weed really helps keep him balanced, and as a result, my parents are now a lot more accepting, even though they have no desire to smoke themselves.
Yesterday I sent my mom a meme about psychedelics and she was not amused. She did the "I love you, but I'm concerned about what you are doing to your mind and body" bit, and when I told her there are piles of research backing shrooms as safe and beneficial, she followed up with "I dare you to prove me wrong about the shrooms. Send me your sources. Not to mention the fact that it's illegal."
I don't think any volume of facts and clinical results concerning psilocybin will fully convince Mom that shrooms are okay. However, I'd still like to fully support my side of the dialogue, and I've been meaning to start a compendium of links to psilocybin fact sheets and research anyhow. If you kind folks have anything to share that might help me, I'd love to see it.
Here's the meme by the way:

If only there was a resource where you could type in a question and get back news stories on the topic, I shall patent this.

One of those battles hardly worth fighting, IMHO. Misinformation is still so widespread that a generation gap can be unbridgeable. I even get the same sort of shit sometimes from friends that have been doing other drugs for decades.
You're not their portal to psychedelics, and the harder you push the topic the more they'll dig in against it. Just let it slide. You know what how good they can be.

Why don't you point her to some of the studies or news articles about the medical uses of psilocybin for depression and end of life anxiety. There's a lot of good research and news articles right now talking about the potential benefits of psilocybin.

Dare her to prove they are harmful with research newer than 20 years, lol. You're fine, and the only real data she has atm.
You can search "mushrooms" on netflix and one of their 'Explained' episodes is about psychedelics, or just poke around the results. There are numerous movies/shows with this as a subject.

My mom used to be against shrooms for the longest time but Iv shown her that there not bad over the last year and now she enjoys to trip on light doses around 2.5gs. She became convinced they are medicinal once I started to give them to her brother who has had serious manic bipolar issues for many years. It has chanced his life in the one year he’s been tripping. He is a completely new man, he still has issues from time to time but as long as he trips on a good dose (3-5gs) every week or 2 then he has noticeably less issues. Now my grandpa and his wife know about his mushrooms use and they weren’t sure about it at first but now they have no issues with is because they now how a son who’s not insane all the time. People will alway bash what they don’t understand but once they see what they can do they know it’s good medicine.

This is where some distance can bring closeness. You may never be able to convince her but that's fine.
In my view you're best to keep that In a separate area... Not as hiding, but just as a different area.
Distance, some, is required to keep closeness with parents.

You're probably right about that and it sounds like you've explained it well enough that a reasonably open minded person would get it so.. why not flip it on her and ask her to prove to you that it's bad?

Buy her Michael Pollan’s book; How To Change Your Mind. He says it better than any research site or other author I’ve read 👍🏻

I completely agree! Pollan's book is perfect for the average uninitiated, written by a respected journalist who had no prior experience in the field, puts everything into a larger picture without focusing on a single psychedelic. Might make a great gift

Thanks for adding that. If you look at any of my posts, I generally recommend that book.
It’s really weird, whether it’s synchronicity, or whatever.
But my whole life I’ve had this internal debate. My parents, school, peers, all advocated the horrors of drugs. So I had that. But then. I didn’t believe anyone until I proved it myself. So I rebelled and took drugs anyway. But my whole life I’ve been torn. Empirical personal experience has always backed up my beliefs, and current research is further backing up my beliefs, but always the shame and embarrassment of the black sheep of the family on his drugs.
But then I see David Nutt on YouTube, then read his book. And then the Brexit referendum in the uk. What I’ve always believed and stood by, the patriotism for my country, and falling into line as far as my government goes, we’ve been lied to all this time. And returning to psychedelics in 2016. Basically folks my reality has been shattered. It’s almost enough to drive you insane with anger and resentment, for the resentment I’ve been forced to believe for my whole life. He basically talks scientific fact only, not political or ethical slant, and you realise the sacrifices you have made for living in a safe society, is that you’ve been controlled and lied to your entire life.
Mushrooms though are helping me to still take positives and find contentment.
Love you all shroomery, DJ Ed

Stay positive, brother! In a way, we've won, in that we didn't believe them, and took drugs anyway - that's a win, my friend. I'd have missed out on loads of fun stuff - lucky escape!
It makes me angry, but I try to see the funny side, and just laugh at the silliness of it all. At school, they showed us a short, special drug-themed version of 'Minder' - this was in 1994 for fuck's sake! . Thanks for that, British State - don't provide me with actual information about the substance, I need my drug education to be delivered in the the form of decommissioned sitcoms about elderly wheeler-dealing wideboys! I reckon the tv exec at ITV must have been wired off his fucking trolley when he pitched that to the Department for Education
