Hi all! Would that be mold on the top of this shroom? I’m itching to get rid of it ASAP if it is, as these are the first two that just popped up lol! Thank you for any assistance!!

Confirmed slug .. nah tho it’s neither. Just a mutation. It’s normal. We usually advise against spawning to aluminum trays without a liner, though. The mycelium can eat through it. You’d see it on the bottom first.

Hahaha, thanks much sporealchemy! Yikes on the tray tip, I had no idea! This is my first bulk casing attempt, what would you recommend to line with?

Brain slug got me excited, darn.
Try making a liner with heavy duty garbage bag (cleaned with ISO), works for me (in a plastic SB). Plus it will shrink with the substrate.

You clean your liners? Lol now that's caution. I dont have the patience for stuff like that I usually wipe my tubs down first... sometimes... once. Lol

You will be fine to fruit that tray the way it is. Probably won't see any big holes until your sub is exhausted. My first time it went three flushes and when it was done the bottom looked like a shotgun went off.

Haha, yeah I’m always for extra caution vs possible contams. I spray everything down just in case, plus I have an extra nosy puppy (always trying to be part of the fun).
