...is there ever really enough??
The Chumscrubber - on hulu
So I saw this movie when I was a teenager and it was like my favorite thing in the world because it spoke to my disaffected ssri consuming upper middle class suburban angst.
I still think it's a solid 7, but it's not quite as genius as I thought it was as a teenager .
good soundtrack tho

So the last few days I've been revisiting the 80s and 90s.
The other night I watched Clueless because I needed something completely brainless. It held up in that capacity, and I also decided that Legally Blonde could legit be considered a 4-years-later sequel. Like if Cher went in to the witness protection program, got plastic surgery, and changed her name to Elle, they're basically watchable back-to-back without losing continuity. All of their zinger lines could interchangeably be attributed to either character.
Then, because it came up in my Amazon suggestions and I had never even heard of it, I watched an early 80s movie with Jeff Goldblum and Cyndi Lauper (?!) called Vibes. They're psychics looking for the lost Inca city of gold or something. Like Romancing the Stone meets Indiana Jones, with a tiny bit of Ghost thrown in and an oddly more serious vibe (see what I did there?) than any of them considering the casting. Surprisingly watchable. Though maybe not particularly re-watchable.
Also, the 90s remake of Sabrina, which held up in that you-can-win-the-girl-by-treating-her-as-a-commodity-because-this-movie-is-really-about-the-male-lead's-personal-growth kind of way, and then Working Girl which seemed like a good follow up because Harrison Ford.

I currently have this one in my Amazon cart but haven't gotten around to ordering it. Haven't seen it since I was a kid but I'm basically in for anything in the adventurer-seeks-treasure genre (see above review of Vibes).

Red State Blue State - Colin Quinn. 8.5/10 Really funny. He's a standup dude too, I've met him when his touring shows have hit a theatre I've worked at.

I finished The Office(US) last night. Honestly 10/10. It's good in all the right ways, really funny even when things start to change drastically. The finale was pretty good even, when they finally got Micheal Scott back and Dwight looks over all shocked, "Micheal.. I can't believe you came.." and he just stands there smiling - "That's what she said." Fucking. I think I woke the kids up laughing. Really it was a great show, lovable characters with a depth that doesn't much distract from being a comedy. I wanted Toby to end up being the strangler though so slight disappoint because fuck Toby..

Saw The Platform on Netflix today. Solid movie, very intense except for the stupid ending. 7.5/10.
The movie world is seriously lacking some scary movies. I don't mean just horrorovies, I mean truly scary ones. Hereditary (widely recommended on reddit) was decent, not scary though. Last movie/show that scared me was Marianne on Netflix, then It Follows before that.
