Yes fruiting right away is fine.
You shouldn’t be mixing it up after the tub is spawned, that’ll just set everything back while the myc recovers and gives contamination more time to take hold.

How long till id see pins do ya reckon? I'm worried the tubs just gonna sit there and be useless lol does it still colonise when in fruiting conditions? There's mycelium all through the thing as far as I can tell but its not all white, not sure if the mycelium is even taking hold of the substrate, I don't see any knotting or anything which I thought meant its ready to fruit? Shall I get a few pics of the sides of the substrate which is where it dosent look as colonised?

Yeah it’ll still colonize.
Normally it takes 10-15 days to see pins.
More pictures is alway better.

Will I be okay to slide it out the tub a little bit and get some pics of the sides without it getting infected?

I wouldn't slide it out of the tub, Would just put it in fruiting conditions and leave it be. Maybe take a picture without disturbing the substrate anymore.
When you spawn to bulk you can put in fruiting conditions right away, they ill colonize and fruit when they are ready

Ahh good good lol aslong as it keeps colonising then should be fine, heres some pics anyway just incase.

I find it hard to tell if im looking at vermiculite or mycelium through the side of the tub, and if you look at the first picture the mycelium at the top looks sort of cleaner.

Don't mean to look impatient or anything but are these pins? They look slightly different colour as the coco coir, not sure what they could be other than pins.

Sorry for looking impatient lol wasn't trying to look like I was ignoring peoples advice but I don't think I posted any pictures of the sides on the other thread so wasn't sure if peoples opinions would be different, its been there for a few days though yeah, I cant even remember lol 4 days if that's what trubblesome can see from my posts.

it's all good, it's hard to wait - but you shouldn't be concerned at this point. you wont have pins for at least a week and shouldn't be worried until it's been another 20 or more days. there's really no distinction between colonization/fruiting conditions but during the first ~2 weeks the sub will still be colonizing and there's no need to be concerned.

It can’t be four days with pins already. If it is it’s either about to go green or you’ve found the fastest kind ever and should be cloning like crazy.

I'm not sure they are pins myself, I cant see them without looking at the picture and zooming in, won't introducing light and fresh air trigger fruiting though?

complete colonization of the sub is the major pinning trigger.
I know how this sounds but trust me, you'll know when you have pins, they're unmistakable, they're little baby mushrooms.

Where are the pins y’all are talking about? I’ve looked at that pic for like 10 minutes straight and still can’t see any... is it like that cigar in a brick wall picture? Lol

Wouldn't the sensible thing be to cover with foil and incubate for longer then? Doesn't that mean that there's no point taking the foil off untill it fruits?

Their on that zoomed in pic I uploaded, I dunno if they are pins but their different colour from the coco coir, I'm just hoping their pins because I worry that I've done something wrong, and if trubblesome sais full colonisation is the main trigger then shouldn't I cover with foil to risk the thing getting contaminated and then take the foil off when it pins?

Maybe it’s verm and coir lined up just right I’m seeing.
I’m looking at the first picture very top just left of center.

Ok.. so when you say “grated” pf cakes up, was there still some pretty chunky pieces that got mixed in? Because if there was, there is a good chance that it could be pinning in certain parts that do have those chunks. So pins are 4 days wouldn’t surprise me.
Are you talking bout this part?

It does look like it could be a pins’ cap pushing up through... and pf cakes are already colonized for quite some time... I wouldn’t worry about it being contaminated yet.. it looks fine. Do not cover it with foil if it’s already been uncovered and put into fruiting. once it’s in fruiting, there is no going back to colonizing. If you cover with foil after that, you risk bacterial infection and you’re cutting off its light, both are no good. Like has been said, just leave it and let it do it’s thing. If you’re just taking it off to take pics etc, putting it back on is no problem.
We are not all super duper patient ppl... we all just learned early on that we need to start more projects to distract us so we can simply manage our impatience. That’s all you can really do. It is possible to love something to death try and forget about it for a few days. The wonderful thing about coir is that even if you have uncolonized parts, it more than likely won’t contaminate. The myc will still keep colonizing while in fruiting mode, but it’s a lot slower. Breathe easy... not much else to do but hurry up and wait.
I’d also suggest using press and seal for a cover rather than foil. It lets light through and it’ll stick and restick over and over again.. a roll lasts a long time and is as cheap as foil.. easy to poke holes in it too

I thought it was older before when I thought there was a pin, but at four days there’s no way.
It’s hard to miss a little mushroom in person.

Well as far as my research goes fruiting conditions are light (which means removing the foil), fresh air, lower temp and misting, maybe more but I cant remember, I'm not sure who it was who told me that I could introduce light and FAE but someone did, so I took the advice, and obviously I cant introduce light with tin foil on the tub.

gotcha - well in any case fahtster said it better than I could. most people give them light but keep a cover on them to keep the sub from drying out (which is why I asked in your other thread if you had a translucent lid you could put on them) and do not change anything at all about the conditions from spawn to harvest. keep it between 18-23c, light on 12/off 12, mist sub to maintain surface beads of moisture once it's fully colonized, etc. take a deep breath, you'll have mushrooms within a month for sure.
search the forum for a shoebox tek and follow the instructions to a T next time. You'll have much less worry and a thread where you can ask questions from people who have done it exactly the way the tek describes.

A lot of ppl colonize in fruiting conditions nowadays.. full colonization is a huge fruiting factor. If you’re using ratios of 1:4 or 1:5 etc, I think that’s when you might get pinning before 100% colonized.

That's the one I meant yeah lol I did put a couple of chunks in there yeah, nothing to chunky though, was just the chunks that fell off when grating I think, i was thinking grating the cakes might of damaged the mycelium and assumed it would give me more chance of undamaged mycelium if I put the chunks in, since it was my first time I wasn't sure how sensitive the mycelium was, I think that's what I had in mind lol or I wasn't sure which would colonise quicker, or both lol was a bit half arsed at this point because Id already had a mold scare and half gave up.

Still no pins yet, there's a white round ball of mycelium that I didn't notice before though just on the surface, I've looked at pictures of knots , could it be that in its early stage? ill upload a picture soon, might just be s blob of mycelium that's round but I dunno lol looks quite perfect in its roundness.
