Music on Shrooms * 1
    #26456112 - 01/27/20 11:02 PM (4 years, 20 days ago)

Hey there my lovelies, i just wanted to hear some cool stories on others experiences listening to music on shrooms. i.e. What type of music created the wildest visuals? Did your taste in music change? Did you learn an instrument while listening to music? How much more beautiful did it sound? Was there deeper meanings in the music you found? etc.

I once listened to a sad sounding song by Joe satriani. I felt like I knew exactly what he was trying to convey with the song. Keep in mind the song is instrumental guitar with no words. It hit me that he lost someone. Days later I watched an interview where he said his dad died while recording the album. Ever since then I am convinced a skilled musician can convey their true thoughts and feelings with music.

Due to the time dilation, music becomes longer and more beautiful for me. Plus there's the emotional amplification. I would say in general music becomes better on mushrooms. It feels more expansive, the instruments are richer, the details are clearer and longer. I mainly used to listen to pink floyd a lot on mushrooms. The doors also.

I've never had music influence my visuals though. Other people report that pretty commonly though. I guess I must just not get that effect for some reason.

LSD on the other hand I generally enjoy music the same as normal or less in some cases. One exception is highly technical classical music, which on LSD is just incredible. But that's more of an intellectual experience, which is in line with LSD vs. mushrooms more broadly. That is, mushrooms are more emotional, and LSD is more intellectual, so it makes sense that music which is more towards one would have a stronger impact with that one than with the other. Of course I've had plenty of amazing experiences with music on LSD, this is just a broad generalization.

Some music is better with LSD and some with mushrooms overall I'd say. It just depends on the music. Still, good calming pink floyd I enjoy on both, but it just sounds better and deeper and richer with mushrooms in my experience, maybe due to the time dilation and emotional enhancement or something.

songs feel longer but feel like they play at a higher speed

stereo sound effects are registered as a 2D plane, so to speak, and that plane rotates and rises and falls in my head

I get the sensation that some songs were made to be perfectly understood while tripping, and sometimes this remains true after the trip is done and sometimes it doesn't. I think the Beatles must be understood in the context of LSD, maybe I've just tripped too hard listening to them but it can suck you into a weird, high dose feeling place. At many points as songwriters they 'got it', I believe.

What a deep question!

Not sure I agree on the comment LSD is not that brilliant; not had it for many years but my memories of music on LSD are amazing. HAWKWIND; changed my life dude. On LSD I can see the notes in the air, and Hawkwind are up on a mound singing to me......

On mushrooms, eyes closed, Shpongle will give you serious CEVs 👍🏻

Tried psy-trance last week for the first time on mushrooms, and what can I say, apart from; WOW. Wifey told me the clue is in the title, when I told her the music had put me into a trance! And the peak lasted for so long, I’m convinced the music synergised with the mushrooms and sent me deeper.

But the weirdest music of all on mushrooms: silent darkness............

Mush love

Music without any lyrics paint a picture like nothing before. Sometimes its not even so much visual. It's just the emotions expressed in such a manner that  you're mo longer in your body.. but you are the music..

Lyrics are great and all.. but instrumentals really help on keeping you not grounded.

Completely agree.

One of my favorite types of music to listen to on shrooms is PsyDub. No lyrics typically, and quite entrancing. Another good genre is PsyBass.

Music on shrooms can take you to some other strange worlds within your mind. Just dont listen to creepy, dark Psy-Trance. I did that one intense trip and it freaked the hell out of me. Never again.

But the Music of Shrooms itself is beautiful. You can hear the music of the Shrooms if you lay down in a quiet room with no lights. Its a special experience to have.

Agree. bands like the beatles the music is created from that tripping headspace and the lyrics if not more than the music direct your trip into into a higher place & can open things up. crazy to think about the power they had in knowing that loads of people would listen to their music in the suggestible state, basically casting mass spells.

My dad always used to bang on about The Beatles; but then when I was about 22, living in a bedsit, I listened to them stoned, going to sleep one night. I became obsessed with them, they were simply awesome. I’ve loved them since. 👍🏻

:werd:

For the most part, I can't fucking stand lyrics in music at all...even when not tripping.

For me...Language is the most distracting thing ever when it comes to music. But it seems most people/the masses are into lyrics more than they are into actual music. So many people don't even listen to music, they listen to what ever the person is singing about  .

Hearing language/someone sing in a song....For me that's as if I'm watching a movie by myself and very focused/tuned into the movie, and someone walks into the room, stands in front of the TV, and starts talking while I'm trying to watching the movie. I not only can't hear what the person is saying because I'm trying to focus on the movie, but I'm also totally distracted from what is going on in the movie......Language/singing totally distracts me from the actual music, with the way my brain processes music and language I can't hear or feel music at all when there are lyrics/someone singing.

Lol not at all. Most people ime dont bother to care what the artist might be getting at when listening to songs theyve heard even multiple times. they just care about the beat or the drop or whatever.
Words have always been paired with music for good reason. thats not to say that certain music is better off without it but to say that all lyrics are garbage is silly

I enjoy the instrumentals as well. The last couple of journeys I'v had involved a lot of psy-ambient type of music, can really take you places.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is live music on shrooms which is an absolutely amazing experience.

I've only done it twice.

First time was at a String Cheese Incident show and I was having a pretty bad time until the band started playing and that helped me keep it together. Overall it was interesting, but a little negative.

The second time was a few years after the first experience at a Phish show and it was absolutely mind blowing. The shrooms made me feel more connected with the crowd and I could watch the band grab and pull us in different directions on an almost primal level. It seemed to me the band was fully aware of this and was doing exactly what they wanted with us. This was all in a light hearted playful way though.

Neve been to a live show while tripping in mushrooms, though I would add that Hawkwind live album, Space Ritual is so raw on mushrooms. You’re in the crowd at the gig, it’s amazing 👍🏻

Well that kinda part of the fun

That last experience was on a 2g chocolate. They were potent though and took me off guard.

I had never done chocolates before and forgot to take into account how much quicker the powdered shrooms hit. Also someone told me cocoa powder potentiates shoorms, but I'm not sure that's true. Maybe its more acidic and works similarly to a lemon tek? These were made with 100% dark cocao.

I think it depends on the environment though. This was a very psychedelic act at a festival so there wasn't too much to worry about crowd wise. At one point someone did light off a lot of fireworks a little too close for comfort though. That kinda freaked me out a little.

I would recommend dosing what your are comfortable with. Tripping hard around a bunch of people can be a serious challenge if youre not ready for it.
