Geckos are pretty rad huh? They eat cockroaches and anything that eats those little fuckers is cool in my book. Do you guys have reptiles?

I’ve had Texas banded, leopard and tokay geckos before. They’re pretty dope. I’ve heard the rare tale of people getting their tokays to calm down and accept handling but I was never able to pull that off. My tokays were blood thirsty hell raisers.

Do you have a favorite reptile? I wish I could have a moat filled with komodo dragons but it would be too hard to keep them fed in a way that's not against the law.

One overall favorite is hard to pick. Maybe one of every category but if I could pick only one.... Crocodile Monitor probably. Freaky intelligent.

They have a pretty gnarly set of teeth on them too..

It still blows my mind you have those out just walking around. You also have another one of my solid favorites in your neck of the woods, Perentie Goannas. You would probably have to do some hiking to get to one though..

I had a Tokay gecko when I was growing up. Son of a bitch was mean as hell. He would bite as hard as he could and wouldn't let go. You had to pull him off. And he would gorge on some crickets too. If you put 20 crickets in his cage he'd eat all 20 in a hurry.

They just don’t like people. I think what the deal was, is most of the Tokays (all of them really) were wild caught so what you had to do was get a pair of them to breed and as you start getting captive bred babies the rage starts getting bred out of them. Reticulated pythons were the same way, it took a few generations of breeding before they started calming down. There just doesn’t seem to be enough money in Tokays to ‘justify’ that. Last I heard though they were starting to breed albino tokays so maybe their price tag changed things. I’m not real up to date on how all that is going these days. A tame tokay would be pretty bad ass though..
They may just always be mad though regardless of captive breeding, I’m not real sure.

Goannas...not sure of the particular type but they look like your photo.
My favorite reptile is the Painted bearded dragon. Elusive quick and beautiful...like looking in a mirror

I have a river cooter turtle and 2 leopard geckos. The turt is male, 12-13yr old river cooter maybe 7-7.5". The geckos are female, one is going on 3 and the other one is maybe 2 years younger than the turtle I think. The younger one Ducky is awesome, I handled her since she was just a lil squirt so she's pretty tame . I know that's pretty common but they're just so cute. The other one doesn't like being handled I think the kids before were a little rough. Leopard geckos could not be easier to keep. The wife does all the work for a small mealworm.. colony(?) so food is endless. They're all pretty awesome pets, turtles live forever though. I could be over 50 by the time he passes on

I have geckos all over my house, inside and out. Little fellas spend all their time smashing down any bugs foolish enough to get too close and crapping everywhere.

When I lived in the Philippines as a kid we little geckos on the wall were the norm. You would hear them like clockwork.

I had a tokay once. He bit me and drew a fair amount of blood. Never tried to hold him after that.
I've had a ton of reptiles. I've always been drawn to them. Never been able to keep a green iguana healthy. They always die before getting mature. Well aware of their specific needs, just never seems to be enough.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. I had an iguana a long time ago that was starting to get pretty big and I didn't know if I was capable of providing him the proper housing and attention that he needed (I should've thought about that before I got him obviously).
A coworker of mine at the time said that she'd take him on, and claimed that she had extensive iguana experience because she had two large ones before for a long time.
I wrestled with the decision but figured he'd have a better life with her so I gave him to her.
Well fast forward about a month and the place that we were working at filed for bankruptcy and closed their doors. I moved back to Dallas and then the next time I spoke to her, she said she couldn't handle him and gave him away.
I've always been bothered by that because if I knew that she was going to give him away some 8 weeks later I would've just kept him.
