Could you make mushroom tea, dissolve a bunch of honey in it while hot, the evaporate off the water til you had shelf stable honey again that is now active?
That's exactly what I've done in the past. Make a STRONG tea, filter well and evaporate down, add half the honey and evaporate down to the consistency of hot honey, mix in the remainder of the honey and transfer to a hot glass jar. Let cool and enjoy. It works well, and the honey is super stealthy.
The idea of putting a lot of wet mushrooms in honey scares me. Botulism risk. Adding herbs will NOT protect against this potentially fatal issue.
Well I understand what You are saying. I guess eating raw mushrooms from the supermarket or anywhere else is also a Botulism risk. I smell the honey and taste the honey every couple of days to make sure its kept fresh. I feel confident that its good to eat and enjoy. Also, its kept in a COLD refrigerator. Honey is one the oldest known antibiotics. The ancient Egyptians frequently used honey as a natural antibiotic and skin protectant. Honey contains hydrogen peroxide, which may account for some of its antibacterial properties. ... The honey can help kill off many kinds of dangerous bacteria and aid in healing .

No it's not. The problem comes from the dilution of honey. There are spores within the raw honey but the water concentration is too low for them to germinate.

This is insufficient. There would be no telltale signs spores had germinated, proliferated and begun to produce botulinum toxin.

True. Until you water it down, then it becomes an excellent growth medium. Ever seen a honey liquid culture made from a spore syringe?
It PROBABLY is safe, but why take a chance? Have a read about honey and botulism for interest sake.

yeah, there is blue honey in fridge several YEARS old...to avoid possibility of botulism (or other harmful substance) can't the honey just be added to simmering water....so basically it goes into a tea. the temperature would kill anything unsafe and/or undesirable. right?

As the toxin is heat labile, if it were to be boiled for a while it's possible it could be denatured. Swallowing a spoon of goo is a bigger problem.
WHO Botulism Factsheet
I'm not trying to be alarmist, but that picture showing watery honey is the concern. The risk is extraordinarily low, but it's significantly higher than honey with a similar water content to its 'natural' state which carries very little risk as the spores can't germinate.

Cracker dry mushrooms were used...so does that eliminate (or drastically reduce) the chance of an undesirable contaminant? The jar is several years old...being stored in fridge.

Absolutely. The problem arises when adding a lot of fresh mushrooms - water is pulled out of them through osmosis, diluting the honey.

Blue honey is an interesting concept, but I agree that it's gimmicky and overhyped. It's impossible to dose accurately, and you probably have to consume a larger mass than you would otherwise. I don't even like honey that much anyway (not by itself anyway) so... I have no interest in trying it, and have no doubt that it probably tastes pretty awful. But to each their own, don't let me stop you from enjoying it.
I'll just stick to dried and tea.

yeah, the big selling point of blue honey is the thought that it would preserve the dried material for much longer - perhaps indefinitely.
and the honey can be added to tea...so taste isn't an issue.
for dosing, could make separate honey batches with specific masses of dried material.
the blue honey lasts forever...from what I understand.

I've done both fresh and dry in honey a few times .
Using dry they store for 3 years according to a report of the person I gave them too.
Using fresh I know from personal experience they are atleast fine for a year.
There is a leeching effect from both dry and fresh according to experiences that I have seen unfold before me. I always consume both the mushroom and the honey so it's not for me to say exactly how much.
I've never really measure my doses anymore so it not an issue.
My advice is a teaspoon of the top as a starter and have had good reports back.
The fresh mushrooms will give a blue watery look to the top of the jar...if you strain and mix the jar after an extended sit, it will have a very slight blue.

It's not gimmicky The Ancient Egyptians stored mushroom extracts in honey to preserve their potency. Its a delicious and healthy way to enjoy the mushrooms. Also Placing undried (living) mushrooms🍄 inside of Honey which comes from (Living) Beings called Honey Bees 🐝 is a WONDERFUL and BLESSED Idea.

I put the magic Honey in the refrigerator to keep it Fresh and I also add more honey when I eat some of the Blue Honey. , plus the spices (Black Pepper, Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, Loins Mane, Sage) will help preserve it. It will not rot if kept Cold. As a matter of fact. I taste and smell it every few days and it's doing just fine.

When I took that picture, I had just put the mushrooms in the Honey and shook the jar up . So Yes the jar had some air bubbles in it. But I eat some of that Blue Honey almost every other day and that Honey has no bubbles in it now , nor does it smell bad and has never gotten me sick ... in fact, it's very healthy to eat. I also add fresh honey to the jar as I eat the mushrooms. Thank You

Question..... Did you shake the jar on a regular basis And keep that jar in the Refrigerator to keep it COLD And Fresh? I doubt it. Because My Jar of Blue Honey is Kept COLD, wrapped in dark bags and shaken up regularly and is Delicious. Mucho Bueno 😀🍄🥰🐝
