My no pour tek has literally all the benefits of a regular pouring petri dish (this includes the visibility of a regular petri dish) and you will never have to use parafilm again. There isn't really any downside.

See my signature.

With all due respect, I disagree. While the Holy grail no pours are awesome in many ways, they are not the same as petris. The main thing is the visibility. In no way are they (at least the ones i got) on par with actual dishes. Also the size is noticeably smaller which allows for less myc per plate. That's not a big deal but is a little downside.

I have yet to determine if they are more or less work than pouring. Currently they seem to be about the same in that regard.

I mean is your opinion but visibility in my opinion is as near as it can get to a real disposable petri.

You can really see a lot of details under the light.

Can you post pictures of the top of the HG petris you got from the vendor, they should all be the same.

I mean you could say the HG petris are around 8.5/10 of visibility and disposable petris 10/10?

Is not that significant no? Enough clarity for me to identify good sectors to transfer from

Well i agree that there is a visibility trade-off, well if you need 10 of 10 then you gotta keep using disposables. :alien:

For sure, Mr Alien. I just have a thing for setting the record straight and you used the word "literally". I'll never forget being a noob and reading everything. I was always upset when i found someone with a really high post count (and or TC tag..... PS, not having one now doesn't mean you won't later) Making absolute statements. Often i trusted them, put a lot of energy into something and then found out it was wrong. That shit really pissed me off and trained me to try and keep the boards accurate.

No harm no foul, hopefully. I Love and appreciate you (even though you'll "probe my ass")

No pours are great, and i'll most likely continue to use them for some things in the future. However, after delving into the world of mycology, I feel pouring, and using petri dishes will be a fun, and valuable skill to master.

Is possible to do no pour with glass petris, just be careful i guess. Boil over is not a risk with these unmodded holy grail plates, no need of parafilm or any other filter material, you save more $ and time by not using parafilm.

I'm sure if you guys couldn't find any other agar instrument but the holy grail petris, you guys would still be able to grow some mushrooms  saying that you "NEED" is clearly an exaggeration as well. Just saying.

Pretty sure most people pour when using glass petris, they’d probably boil over if you tried no pours with them seeing as how theyre so shallow.

Alien I’m glad you like them but I personally dont care for no pours, regardless of visibility. You dont “need” agar or sterilized grains  either. But it sure makes things alot better. All you really need is a spore syringe and some brf cakes, but is there a better way? Definitely..

I’d like to see someone try to pull off an isolation thread like verum’s using no pours.

Theres a reason they're industry standard. Ease of use and availability.

I haven't used those "holy grail" but I won't knock them. Many of us use disposable petri dishes but it's pretty clear you've added an asset to the community that wasn't here before that many will benefit from that like no-pour. Give credit where it's due. I like disposables but those holy grails are pretty slick.
