I'm almost certain its mold lol as far as I know mycelium isn't hairy and doesn't grow like that.

Just edited this because I've just read https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17231150 and mycelium does look like that close up so now I'm stumped.

It’s myc. but it looks a bit off, probably because of the uneven surface. You broke up the coir well, right? Looks clumpy.

Either way, it colonized, so congrats!!!:mushroom2:

Phew, that's good to hear lol thanks for that I was panicking like mad. The reason it looks a bit clumpy though is because I actually let it colonise for 2 days or something and then mixed some verm in, that's the only reason I can think of lol

Should I give it another few days before it goes into fruiting?

Any risk if I do it tomorrow? Need to wipe everything down and don't have any wipes yet, plus I need to set up fruiting area.

No risk.
Also, no need to wipe anything

Better to wipe stuff down though id of thought? I like to try and eliminate the risk of mold you see.

Eliminating risk is great, but wiping surfaces down (at this stage) doesn’t help do that.

Coir is resistant, and your (colonized) cakes are resistant if they’re clean. Only way you’ll see mold before you see mushrooms is if your spawn was dirty from the start. That’s true even if you keep your tub on the bathroom floor.
