Newb tryna harvest monos- I used the search function

Hey all, hope everybody's doing great. I'm a newb when it comes to harvesting. I need a sharp blade, and to start adding a liner. I'm using 66qt monos and was wondering if anyone had any advice. I've read the 3 or 4 teks on this. Bods no mod tubs, a couple others. But like I said I cant really take my sub out, no liners.
Leave the stumps right? How close should you be cutting to the sub in that case? How long should you wait to rehydrate? Heavy mist or bottom water n dump excess? I'm using some big ass scissors for the time being

I used an exacto knife that worked nicely. As close to the substrate as possible. You can try adding water to the tub, that way the substrate would float and maybe make it easier, it will rehydrate at the same time.

This thread was moved from The Ethnobotanical Garden.
Reason: off topic for the garden

It's not a no mod tub, so filling it up isnt an option. Do you use just the blade or the blade w/ a handle? Are you removing/raising yoursub to do it?

I used the blade and handle, pull gently on the top, and just slice the bottom off.

How well does that work for clusters/dense pins? Do you run into any issues? Know anything bout the stump question(s)? More so how close to flush they should be?

It works perfect for clusters, I found the exacto to be like cutting through butter.
Check my sig. You see those stumps? I'd go even closer. In theory there should be no stumps. If you can twist and pull safely without ruining the substrate, try that. If they are well rooted in, cut as close as you possibly can.

Flush 2 on the right there? Do stumps compromise growth in any way? Looks fairly similar to what I've got going on right now

Honestly I am not sure. I used blades for bulk due to lazyness and thick roots. I found that new growth would not be around them, someone else probably has better info than me.
Maybe this would be the ideal tool

Worth a shot, I'll see if any craft/hardware stores carry them around here for a short term fix until I start working with liners Thanks for the convo/insight
