Freshies - some questions

There is a surprising situation where a person is hardly affected with 4-5 gram doses of dried cubes - tried in different manners (i.e. tea, blended, etc). There is not an issue with the particular cubes, as others have had profound experiences with similar doses.
Does anyone know if freshies would be more likely to work?
If so, can someone provide a conversion ratio. How many grams of fresh = 1 gram of dry, for example.
Thanks!

The general rule of thumb is that fresh shrooms contain ~90% water. Means they dry down to like 10% of their original weight.
Given these numbers, 1g dry is roughly 10g fresh /wet. It's 1:10, easy to calculate. 5g dry would be 50g fresh.
Fresh shrooms are a bit more potent that their equivalent dried dose, because some of the psilocin degrades while drying. Fresh shrooms also kick in faster because the stomache can digest them faster.

I’ve always believed the 90% / 10% approximate ratio, but all my dried mushrooms tend to have more water. Maybe my cultivation technique needs improving; next grow is going to be Bod’s easy AF Monotub Tek with coir and rye, and see if I get more dried weight.
I recently used a dehydrator, and calculated the shrinkage:-
533 wet grams 39 dry grams ============ 7.31%
So for the equivalent ratio, 5g dry would equal 68g fresh! But also bear in mind fresh have much more psilocin than dried, so corrected weight for weight are stronger, i.e. 68g fresh is stronger than 5g dry. So yeah, maybe follow Pandemoon’s advice, OP.
Wow, that sounds a lot!
Dunno what that all means, maybe I dehydrated the mushrooms too far. Having said that, I have always previously air dried for a few days then finished in a desiccant chamber, getting down to 10% RH. The ratio of these even is less than the 10% too, but not as much as cracker dry.
Hope this helps and doesn’t confuse!

Thanks y'all!
Any suggested recipes for freshies?
Is tea still a good option?

Tea is always a good option. Works very well also with fresh mushrooms. You won't need as much water as usual, as the shrooms contain already moisture. Make sure to squeeze them well after filtering, to get all the liquid out.

Slice the mushrooms up into enough lemon juice to wet them all, then pour the boiling water on and boil / simmer for 20 minutes 👍🏻 With all that extra psilocin, you’ll have a wild come up dude

oh this sounds perfect. two questions:
would grapefruit juice work just as well?
after the slices get wet in the citrus juice, does the entire concoction (citrus juice + slices) go into a pot with hot water to simmer for 20 minutes? or just the slices go in the hot water and the citrus juice added to the tea after the simmering?

I don’t see why grapefruit wouldn’t work; though on SSRIs you’re told not to have grapefruit. Don’t know if that’s relevant, but maybe some contraindication due to serotonin and psilocybin working on the same receptors. I always use lemon, but once used orange - the come up was really weird!
Oh and yes, lemon / orange juice, mushrooms and boiling water all together. After 20 mins gentle boiling, wait for it to cool a bit then strain through a dishcloth. With the cloth, you’ll be able to really squeeze all the juice out of the mushrooms. They should be like a dry paste that you can easily peel off the dishcloth when you’re done. 👍🏻

I really do need to try and give the LemonTek another go. I've only tried it once and it was appealing for such a low dose. I do think it had a different comeup than tea.
But.. lemontek + boiled into a tea??

You won’t go back, vibe_enthusiast, once you’ve had tea this way. The taste of lemon overpowers the mushrooms, but in itself is quite nasty - so I always rinse the glass out with orange juice; keeps my blood sugar up for the trip, and gets rid of the taste 👍🏻

no medication. starting to thing their body has very high natural levels of MAO or very low natural levels of MAOI. maybe that would explain?
and yeah, thanks so much for this lemon tek + tea hybrid idea! Love it!
