Are these safe to eat? * 1
    #26451990 - 01/25/20 02:15 PM (4 years, 4 days ago)

Hey, I did a grow about a month ago and had to leave to overseas so I harvested and placed the fresh mushrooms into a desiccant chamber I made. I just got back and it seems like the mushrooms look very weird. Are these safe to eat?http://

They are cracker dry, and they don’t smell bad to me (btw I have low smell sensitivity). It’s just the white stuff that has grown between the mushrooms. The white stuff is also dry

How did they get like that?

I’d make tea and boil it for a few minutes if you plan on eating them.

Yeah I would definitely recommend making tea if you decide on consuming those. I'd also recommend getting a dehydrator if you are going to continue this hobby. They are worth the cost

I put them in the desiccant chamber fresh. That could have contributed to excess moisture allowing white matter to grow. I’m not sure what the white matter is.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I bought a cheap dehydrator but the heat element broke after a day of use. I’ll save up for a better one next time

Oh shit I didn’t even notice it was stuff growing, though it was tangled stems.

I would not eat that. Best case it’s mycelium.

Take some better pics so we're not trying to look at them through a piece of plastic.

Those would go straight in the garbage if I had other mushrooms that I could consume. Not even sure how your mushrooms ended up like that..:grossman:

Just looks like they tried to grow again in the desiccant box before they dried out.

That should be enough information for anyone to make a decision.
