My first king oyster grow.

Hey everybody, been a long time since I’ve been on here! I’ve been playing around with all sorts of oyster mushrooms lately, this go around I’m trying Kings out. This is the progression so far. This 5 pound block is made with pasteurized hwfp. I didn’t have the means to sterilize many supplemented blocks so I went with 4 quarts of spawn in lieu of supplementation. The pin set is incredible and looking like it will have quite a few mature mushrooms. What do y’all think?

Damn that pinset is insane. None of my king oysters blocks ever wanted to fruit much. Whats your GH setup like?

Thank you! I’m impressed with it as well as I didn’t know how it would be un supplemented and all, but the high spawn rate seems to have made up for it . My fc is a 4 tier plastic shelving unit wrapped in plastic. I have slits in the plastic to aid fae. I’m running an inkbird humidity controller set up to a krane ultrasonic humidifier. I’m keeping rh at 85%. Nothing too fancy, but is getting the job done. I plan to upgrade to a bucket humidifier and a few other things this week.

Wow, looks really impressive! I also have a block of King Oysters going at the moment, but not much happened almost 3 weeks after spawning. How long did it take for these pins to appear? Did you scratch the surface of the block? It seems so from the pictures.

That's looking great!
Some advice:
Kings love to over-pin - if you want to get a few nice big mushrooms instead of tons of little 1" mushrooms, you can prune them. Just select the best 5-10 you wanna keep and chop all the others' little heads off.
-------------------- Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here. ------------------- Have some medicinal mushrooms and want to get the most out of them? Try this double extraction method.

The pins showed up about 4 days after I opened the top of the bag up. I didn’t scratch the surface.
