About to transfer spawn and substrate into tub need some tips

Hey all! Hope I’m wording this correctly so y’all can understand it. I am about to put spawn and substrate into grow rub. Should I place the spawn at the bottom of the bag and not mix it, or do I need to mix the spawn into the substrate for a better grow. Also should I break up the mycelium in the bags before transferring or should I leave it as is. Just want to know what do do so it will colonize faster. Also about how long does it take to colonize before I should put it into fruiting? Thanks for the help, I’m a newb

You want to break the spawn up to get the most inoculation points as possible. I’d mix it up.. you could layer the tub but mixing is faster.
Some ppl put into fruiting right away and some ppl let it colonized at or around 100% and then put into fruiting. Depending on the ratio you’re using, it can take around a week to fully colonize. What are you fruiting it in?

1)we're not quite sure what youre doing 2)if i had to guess, rub is a typo and you meant tub... you need to mix it together with your spawn 3) yes break the mycelium up, assuming its on grains.... more surface area means more mycellium is growing during the day (more surface area means faster grow) 4) see above 5) this varies but your substrate, after fully colonized should take 10-14 days to fruit. (so 10-14 days to colonize) it depends

tek, a technical description of what to do. people that have tried stuff in the past are kind enough to post their failures and successes to allow us to used their knowledge to not waste time in our attempt at attaining the beautiful fruits.

Thanks, I see Tek being used a lot on here wasn’t sure what it was, now I know. Well anyway I mixed the substrate and colonized rye together. Another question then comes up. I think the mixture goes a little bit above the 1/4 inch holes in the monotub. Is that going to be a problem? Anything I can do to remedy the situation if it is a problem. Or do I not need to worry about it?

at this point its probably too late . yeah its an issue because those holes are for fae( fresh air exchange) you meed to leave the substrate a 1/4 in below the holes in order for it to have fresh gas exchange

I would duct tape the holes you made before and make new ones 1/4” above the substrate. But that’s just me and I’m still a noob with all of this!

that is an option, but that tub would be specialized.... ive been using the same tubs for 7 years now to spawn my fruits
