Wet agar?
    #26450690 - 01/24/20 07:50 PM (4 years, 5 days ago)

Made my first step in restarting my op after about a year, I left off with agar so I figured I’d start there again. I prepared glad mini round agar containers and PC’d them 45 min. set over night. When I went to inoculate I notice some had dampness settled on top of agar. Will this ruin the chances of mycelium growth?

My guess is condensation got trapped inside the rounds after PC'ing. I think I read the agar should absorb excess condensation, but I definitely wouldn't try to use it with noticeable excess on the agar surface.

You might be able to shake the rounds lightly and distribute the moisture on the walls and lid of the round. You made FAE holes in the lids with tyvek/polyfill too right?

Protip: If you're having issue getting the temperature of agar right (the closer you pour to melting point, the less condensation you'll get), just turn the dishes upside down. Agar will colonize upside down and you'll get a much lower chance of bacteria moving across the surface.

I have micro pore tape aka paper tape should I switch to poly fill?
