    #26450305 - 01/24/20 04:28 PM (4 years, 5 days ago)

Compost, fish manure, etc. What other substrate elements are good for a cuben grow than cmc/horse poo? My dad has some good unpasteurized compost I was thinking of trying to pc.

I use my house hold and garden compost everything goes in it but meat. i boil while stirring in a pillow case at 180 for 30 mins, cool HANGING 6 ft above ground by rope then goes right on my colonized oats. works great.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

There are a lot of options.

Straw is great for one and two flush wonders, can be tricky with contams, adjust the ph up a bit and make sure your bits are chopped small and mixed well with spawn

Pelletized straw is pretty groovy, eatyualive has done good work with it

Compost is good but it needs to be thoroughly composted

Worm castings is another one that don't get much play around here but is super cool and very versatile, you can do some tricky stuff with worm castings that you can't do with other poops

You can also spawn to very low-nutrient stuff like pelletized paper, topsoil, peat, etc. which also works.

Just keep in mind that bulk sub is mostly for water supply and a solid growing medium for fruits to mature from.
