Habitat: Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.
Gills: Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.
Stem: Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color: Very important!
Bruising: Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.
Other information: Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.
TThis is from northern Washington, my friend found these in his yard, both he’s never seen before and wondering what they could be.
One looks almost like a stump

And the other is a little larger than golf ball sized w thick stem

Bottom picture looks like an immature Amanita pantherina but can't say for sure.
1st picture looks like it could possibly be a pisolithus or something.

We'll need more info and pictures of the first one. Are you sure it is fungal?
Second one is an Amanita species, a mature specimen would help. Tell your friend he should leave it for a few days and take new pictures. It is important that it is dug out of the ground to reveal the stem base (intact).

Ok thanks guys I’ll pass it along.
I have no idea about the first one he said it’s pretty solid but spongey. I’m pretty sure I heard Stamets or whatever his name is talking about a crazy pantherina experience.

I’m curious about that too. Totally looks like a broken off pumpkin stem stuck in the ground.

I’m thinking it’s gotta be a stump from a big vine or something that got an infection and grew a weird top but he swears it hasn’t been there very long and it’s not wood.
