All that stuff blows my mind, going back to making it so N. American’s couldn’t do peyote rituals etc. A lot of shit seems normal until you take a look around and see how unusual it is that some Joe has their interests focused so intently on deciding how you behave. It gets really odd the more you look at it.
I mean it’s just a person, it’s not some righteous, truthful, all knowing source. It’s just a person..

I see a difference in how it originated vs how it’s been used over time. I get what you’re saying though.. it’s odd when you try and get inside their heads and see what they’re thinking..

Just reporting, I am doing well. Got out 6 months ago, and I am currently studying orgo chem. Semester was completed with a 3.56 GPA.
excited to see what is to come.
any suggestions in regards to changing major that would lead to the fungi/psych world would be awesome, but i figured orgo chem is similar and may get me to my goal.

Just reporting, I am doing well. Got out 6 months ago, after doing 297 days. Covid really messed up my early release date!
I am currently studying Bio-Orgo Chem at my local University. I completed this semester with a 3.56 GPA.
Extremely excited to see what is to come!
Any suggestions in regards to changing majors that would lead to the fungi/psych world would be awesome! I figured orgo chem is similar and may get me to my goal.

You are probably best off sticking with organic chem. That's a good degree. There are a bunch of things you can do with that degree, including growing stuff.

Right on.
What do you do for income? How can you afford college after all that?
Getting slammed with multiple felony charges, having to pay 300K in fines, spending several months behind bars...
....and then being able to go to a university within months of being released.
How do you do that?
I've dreamed of going to college but I don't have the $ for it . I find it wild that someone can get charged with multiple felonies, having to pay $300,000 in fines, spend several months behind bars...
...then shortly after getting out being able to go to a university.
How is that possible? How can you afford college after all that and so soon after getting out of jail?

Chemistry is a tough field to find employment these days, especially if you have a felony conviction I would imagine. Most people who study chemistry as their undergrad go on to med school or another profession that requires post graduate work.

I am very lucky to have a family member who was willing to let me stay with them while I get my life back in order and attend school. within 3 weeks of being released I was sitting in a math class, and on my computer in class.
The pell grant offered me 8k to go to school, even with my felonies since they're not violent. They did have to review my case, but they allowed me to get the money from FAFSA. I have just gotten accepted to a University where Ill be finishing up my education.
It hasn't been easy, but I think it will be worth the hoops I've had to jump through.

Thank you! I appreciate that input.
In 5 years I expect to be awarded a full pardon. I know the Chief Probation Officer (just met him at a lacrosse game 3 days ago!...ironic XD) in my state and he says they're handing pardons out to anyone with a pulse, you don't even have to change your life and do anything positive, just don't get in trouble.
