Tears In Pleat Hepa. Patch or Replace?
    #26448181 - 01/23/20 01:09 PM (4 years, 6 days ago)

I have an almost new Hepa filter that has a few small tears in it towards the center. I really do not want to replace the entire filter. Can it be easily patched with silicone even though they are in the center? I am unable to provide a pic right now but its roughly 2 small lines about 3 inches long going down the horizontal folds.

If I am able to patch it any recommendations for procedure?

Guessing 100% silicone and maybe pinching it onto the holes?

I try.

The tear is perpendicular to the pleats? If so, that sounds like a death sentence to me. If it were along the same direction as the pleats, it could be patchable, and then personally i wouldn't use the entire column of space coming from the patch. I don't own a flowhood, so take it for what you will.

It is perpendicular. they are essentially small 2-4mm holes/slits on the folds that are sticking out. I cant seem to find any info on patching the center of the Hepa. I wouldnt have to remove the filter to patch them but I am curious if it would block to much flow to still be effective.

If I have to replace whats a cheaper retailer than fungi.com?
