Tears In Pleat Hepa, Patch or Replace?
    #26448174 - 01/23/20 01:05 PM (4 years, 6 days ago)

I have a relatively new Hepa filter that has a few small tears in it towards the center. I really do not want to replace the entire filter. Can it be easily patched with silicone even though they are in the center? I am unable to provide a pic right now but its roughly 2 small lines about 3 inches long going down the horizontal folds.

If I am able to patch it any recommendations for procedure?

Guessing 100% silicone and maybe pinching it onto the holes?

I would go with RTV seal adhesive. The thick gorilla glue might work, not sure if the filter material would suck it up too much.

Will the patches affect the laminar flow creating turbulence?

Most likely it will in that area.
