Why not just eat cactus?

I tried a little piece of my bridescii cactus and it tasted fine. My friend agreed. Could we trip just by eating the stuff instead of going through the dehydration/tea process?

Short answer: Yes.
I think most people don't eat it because the skin can be very upsetting to the stomach and the taste of it (to most people) is bitter and nasty. Extractions make consuming it a lot easier.
One guy from this post talks about slicing them thin and dehydrating 6hours then washing down with a drink. Good luck if you decide to go that route.

Sure, I have eaten raw cactus many times.
Some people cannot stand the taste /texture, but I have no problem with eating that slimey thing.
Just despine, peel the waxy skin off without losing any of the darkgreen tissue beneath (that's where most of the alkaloids are stored!), and get rid of the woody core. Eat the remaining dark green flesh.
Ne need to dehydrate, no boiling, no extrction. Just eat that thing.
A foot usually is a medium trip, with bridgesii.
Have fun!

I feel some of the mescaline effects after eating 2 little pieces (skinless). I feel like I could easily eat it all lol. This seems pretty chill. Maybe I’ll leave it to dehydrate for a bit so there’s less to eat when I wanna full trip.

So the alkaloids are in the dark green flesh that’s right under the skin? If you throw away the white flesh you don’t lose a significant amount of alkaloids?

Most of the alkaloids are in the dark green flesh and some in the white flesh. A minor ammount is in the core, but the core is woody and hard to eat.

This is what a prepared cactus looks like. Above is the core (discarded), below the stuff you have to eat.

Some people eat raw. Like a slimey fresh cucumber! Ive heard it hits harder too.
Most people dont eat raw because its easier to down a cup of warm cactus tea then to eat raw pieces.
But if u can stand the taste and texture no problem, eat away!

I used to eat cactus, but after awhile the downside seemed too much compared to tea. I didn't like having to eat so much plant material. When you eat a large amount its a lot of chewing and then it just sits in your gut real heavy. Also, each time I ate cactus the taste got worse and worse, like I was developing a taste aversion to it. Its just so much easier to drink a cup of tea IMO, especially when you're working with a large amount of cactus.
But eating the cactus definitely works. Stick with potent cactus like Bridgesii and you should be good.

My friends no cook tek.
Cut out the white & core and peel the wax, use only the alkaloid rich green, freeze/thaw x3, blend, mix with lemonade, down the hatch.
Works very well.

Probably too late, but don't dry it with the waxy skin still on if you want to eat it raw. It's difficult to peel off once dry. The skin makes you very nauseous, it's not meant to be ingested.

Its a pain in the ass to peel. I used to cut the cactus into chunks and then use my fingers and fingernails to peel the skin. There's probably a better way. Really have to be careful not to lose a lot of the dark green flesh when you peel. Making tea is nice because you dont have to peel the skin and you avoid that hassle. If you do peel the cactus make sure to despine it first.

Yeah it’s pretty hard to peel after dehydrating but beforehand it’s easy just to eat the cactus and not the skin

You can eat raw cactus but you won't manage to get a very large dose down. I've managed to chow down on a 12 inch cutting a few times but it's like ever expanding bitter snot in your mouth that just gets worse as you go...however if you're determined to do it soaking it in lime juice and mixing some coriander in can make it halfway palatable.

I ate like half a dehydrated cactus (eating around the skin) along with an acid trip yesterday, my stomach didn’t really feel upset. I’m probably going to do a proper mescaline trip this weekend just by eating (more than 1) cactus, hopefully I don’t throw it all up lol

Okay. Please report back, I'm interested in how cactus affects you. You seem to need higher doses of lsd than usual, I'm just curious.
Keep in mind that acid has a strong tolerance towards other psychedelics, for at least a full week, probably two weeks. Dosing 5 days after an acid trip usually leads to diminished effects.
