Flow hood question

Hey, guys. I’m debating ordering a filter and blower from FP, the links will be below. I’m having a little confusion with the calculations though. So I’m going with a 24 x 18 x 5.8 filter along with their recommended blower, the Universal Blower - 1,040 CFM @ .8 inch SP. Now if I add a prefilter, presumably for a .2 wg, how does this effect the blowers efficiency. Mainly my question is how do I determine if this will give me 100 FPM. From everything I’ve read I see people using around 500cfm blowers etc. is the one they recommend overkill? Thanks for any help guys!

Actually just received a response from FP. With that blower I’m looking at this equation the rep from FP gave me:
Example: Series II Flow Hood: EAMF2418 + EAFB2 1040 CFM @ 0.8"SP / 3 sq ft = 346.6 feet per minute (ft/m) - this is the air speed off the face of the filter.
Wouldn’t this be too strong since the recommendation is 100-150 fpm?

Don’t order your blower from FP. Go to eBay or online and look up Dayton 1TDU2 . Its the exact same blower from FP that they way over charge on. You might be better off with the Dayton 1TDU1 thought the 1TDU2 is way overkill

If u do get the bigger blower you can always bog it down by covering the intake some to get it at the right speed

For a 18x24 Filter you want 300 CFM blowing at you ( = 100FPM). Normally people add another 20% to this because your filter will get clogged over time slowing it down. So you want 360CFM coming out of your filter at a static pressure of 1.2 including prefilters.

Really appreciate that sfs. Couldn’t find that exact model on eBay but some other sights had it for about $150 cheaper
