Reason for deletion: sudden paranoia of showing my pictures of a grow and admitting to it online. great community btw, good insight from members

Looks contaminated and abit green also.
What's your usual setup?
Heat mats aren't good for incubation, will cause more issues than if you were just to leave it at room temp.
Especially with big bags like that the heat mat will only heat the bottom.

Ah, that's what I've feared..
My setup uses a bottle of water with a fish tank heater. It works so so, and at night temps have dropped to the mid to low 60's.
I had used a heat mat right before this happened. After noticing how hot it got I made an air gap between the pad and the box I keep the bags in, which improved things. Recently I've removed the pad and am relying on the fish tank heater alone.
My second bag just started white mycelium growth. Hopefully more luck with this one.

Your temps are fine, those aquarium heaters are meant to be good I've never used them though I prefer room temp or even cold temps it's slower but less contams and supposedly cold gives more of a yield I can't tell much difference personally.
Try one at room temp and a incubated one see what's the difference good luck make a post and share your results with us!

So looks like you either bought a grow kit or mixed grain & sub before inoculating? Either way, that’s the #1 problem.
Problem 2 is the heating. All it does is invite contams.
Make your own spawn, knock it up, stick it on a shelf, reap harvest.

Thanks for the replies!
Yes, I bought a pre bagged mixture. I'm afraid of screwing things up, so I figured I'd do it this way my first time just to show myself I can do it, then do more of it myself once I have.
I am going to continue with the little fish tank heater for my healthy bag.
As for the contaminated bag, there's a penny sized mycelium growth on the opposite side from contamination. As a last ditch effort, I'm going to remove all the grains on the contaminated side, and place the healthy looking section in a glass jar. I'll try no heat with that one, and maybe I can save it if lucky!

Good idea, I started on a 100% mycelium kit (we all hate kits) but I had never tried shrooms before so it gave me an idea if I wanted to get serious about this hobby... Seeing the kit progress was beautiful and makes you think how much better it could be if you do it yourself
It sounds like it will be more effort than it's worth trying to save that bag, I wouldn't open a contaminated bag anywhere near where you plan to keep the healthy bags.
You would need to steralize an empty jar and use a flowhood/SAB to do the transfer to the jar even then don't be surprised if it doesn't work.
