Ganoderma Lucidum?
I found it growing on a dead tree in the coastal range of Oregon.

Didn't realize it, but we have a Ganoderma oregonese here. I've found some pictures that pretty much look identical. Gonna try to get it on agar tomorrow! Thanks!

A Laccate Ganoderma species is as close as I can get. Mr.cloudy is good with Ganoderma, you can try sending him a link to your id request.

It’s Ganoderma oregonense or Ganoderma tsugae. They are nearly identical in appearance, but the lacquered ochre look is a pretty solid indicator that it’s one of the two. As far as I know they both have the same bulk of intrinsic benefits as G. lucidium.

Thanks for the info guys! Hmm, I guess there is no real way to know oregonese vs. tsugae without genetic testing? It doesn't look like there are any dangerous look a likes. I'm also hoping to cultivate it, so I will have plenty of time be certain before I consume it.
I know this is more of a cultivator question, but does anyone know how long I have to put it to agar? I got them out of the woods yesterday and they are in the fridge. I've got to work all day and I'm going to put it on agar tonight. With it still be viable?

I think you’ve got a long time till it loses viability. Like many months. Just follow a reishi growing tek. I think there’s one in every Paul Stamets book.
I did a little more reading and I guess it’s been determined that G. tsugae is not common to the PNW. I thought tsugae was the species saprobic to hemlocks in general but I guess it’s only associated with eastern hemlocks.
