A.k.a said: How long do you leave the fan on the wbs? Mine was coming out way too wet just soaking overnight then letting it sit in a strainer for an hour so this last time I spread it out on paper towels and based on the growth so far it’s too dry.
I like that tub assortment/mini machete too.
I have a pic but it’s been posted in this thread so many times so I hope no one remembers but.... With this apparatus you will never have your grain too wet:
Bread tray from my job (service industry 4lyfe), 1 roll of aluminum screening, and 2 saw horses. Set it up underneath your ceiling fan and let sit for at least 2 hours up to 18 with paper towels on top past the 6 hr mark. Cheap as fuck and the best way to get perfectly dried grains, just by spreading them out. I’ve done 15lb of grain in one run on one of these fuckers
Original idea is from Grimsweeper, I just made a couple modifications.

That’s a lot pretty cool set up. I use wbs it’s been a while so I need to go back and re read prep for it.
Will myc colonize dry grain? Seems like it would but really slowly. I made the mistake of switching up grain prep and new lids on the same batch of jars so now im not sure what’s causing things.
My jars with seed I let get totally dry on the outside after a 24 hour soak seem to have slower wispier growth so far.
Some good lookin plates I have on deck if the shoeboxes of these clones do well.
And another PE clone split between rhizo and tomentose.

Fuck 😒 at least I've only got 7 more quarts of it. When I checked them this morning they were looking like they weren't going to get much taller.

Looks like uncle bens.. probably put micro tape over the injection hole for GE.

Sure. Hole to the top of the bag with a soldering iron under an SAB. Injection trough the hole, Micropore tape to cover the hole.
This is an idiot simple procedure, i can buy sterilized bags of grain from the nearest store for a high price, which is okay since i still don't have a PC. Once i find one, this technique goes straight out the window just for the price alone. This works somewhat most of the time, i seem to get like 5-10% contamination rate on these (using a spore syringe) which might not be a huge issue with the beginner methods i'm using otherwise, but for the fact that i might not see the contamination at all until i actually open the bag. This has happened a few times now, i'm thinking i have a fully colonized bag and once i cut it open, i find a massive lump of sporulating trich which i've just exposed to my room air. Having jars where you can see what's actually happening inside would be a lot better.

How thick is your sub and did you case it with peat? Fruggin baller!
Faht
Thanks everybody for the love. Sub is about 3 inches and cased at 100% colonization with 50/50+ (peat/verm + lime). Mycelium pretty much ate through the casing layer before pinning. Was pretty sure it would be blob city. But exploded.
Here's some PEUW

Very nice! Those cased the same way?
