Now where exactly is the temperature meter on CPU?

When a temperature is written in a app on your screen, where is the temp being read from?
Center of a CPU? Corner of it? Side?
I wonna know the true reading, I want to be sure my thermal cpu paste has been applied well, I don’t wonna remove cooler and wires are stuff.

Run a stress test on my rig today for 20 mins...
It said cpu temp was running between 40 - 50 C
That's good, now I need to know if its entire cpu or just one spot

It depends on the manufacturer and the processor series.
Intel's latest processors have analog to digital thermal sensors embedded in each core within the die, and usually report the highest temp read from any one core. Thesis sensor systems also have a fair amount of variability, and while they are good for general fan control, they should not be relied on for reliably pushing one's cores to the absolute thermal limit without causing damage to the silicon. My recommendation would be to search for specific processor datasheets and associated whitepapers, and then do a text search for "temperature" or "thermal" to get the data that the manufacturer is willing to release. It won't be straightforward, and you'll probably have to do a fair amount of research to figure out your processor specifics.
Best of luck

The temperature sensors on processors are likely just diodes embedded in the circuitry, as a simple n/p or p/n transition varies its characteristics slightly depending on temperature. The problem with this is, however, that the temperature response of such a device is rather non-linear, and the signal is essentially pretty weak, so any errors tend to be amplified by the necessary circuitry to make a readable signal from it.
Some further information can be found in this TI whitepaper: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snoaa29a/snoaa29a.pdf As you can see, on-die diodes as well as BJT's can be used, as are external temperature sensors, but in desktop CPU's, the sensors are always inside the processor package itself. If you want to know specifically how e.g. Intel implements it - good luck. I did a quick scan of one of their datasheets and there is no specific information on how they measure temperature or where the sensors are located exactly. Neither does the earlier linked Intel whitepaper divulge such information.
Not that it matters - for the home user, the temperature as reported by the CPU (which can be read in the BIOS or with 3rd party software such as Speedfan) can be assumed to be fairly accurate. A modern CPU that has poor thermal contact with its heat sink will lock up (enter thermal protection shutdown, causing the system to crash/become unresponsive) within a matter of seconds or minutes.

Waw Koraks, thanx
I think there must be a censor in each core like the dude above suggested, and hopefully it presents u with reading which ever the core highest
At least I hope so, I really dont want to unplug and disassemble cooler just to check paste is evenly distributed... I know I did a good job but my memory playing tricks on me
Anyway stress test was more than satisfactory, so
So thanx dude

Take a look at this dudes

As you can see during stress test the highest single core temp was 64 C
While other cores are around 60
Core 2 is higher than the rest, i wonder what that means
Anyway, anyone care to share their 3D Mark results ??
