Sorry to bring this up again but looking for some advice. As I speak, voice to text, I am preparing some old experimental tubs I had from back when I started and I'm about to crumble 1 tampanensis PF cake and do some sub. I have never worked with tamps, or any stone before. Should I remove the stones that are already formed when I crumble into sub and let more grow? Or should I just mix them in and let them continue in harvest later when I have fruits?

I'm also going to do two of these containers as an experimental wafer tek with my PES a cake. We'll update on that.

Definitely participate in the stone producers thread that was posted.

You can harvest after 6-8 weeks but they will continue to grow and accumulate alkaloids for about 6 months. After that time they won't get any stronger but they will keep for a few more months.  You can fruit them and then harvest the stones and fruits together.  Ideally you'd be using rye berries for your jars instead of PF.  You want the sclerotia to kinda grow around/between the grain and it'll incorporate your PF substrate into it so (IMO) you won't want to eat those.  The stones will get much bigger in a tub too

I grew mine just like I do cubes. On a shelf with a cracked lid once I see pins. They pin and grow fast. Easy as cubes.

However, if you want results beyond 'basic bitch' than you need to really up the RH and fae.

Mycolorodo sand casing tek is key reading. His results are amazballs.

Oh for sure. I have been reading through that's thread a bit. Thanks for giving me some tips as well! I've been winging this one for sure.
I have some t3 I'm putting to grain tomorrow or tonight. WBS thought not rye. This PF jar was a whim. I was given a MSS from 2017 to try to bring back by a friend who wasn't doing agar work, as well as some others. I started cleaning them all up on agar and, did one PF jar of each just to see what happens. Most were contamed as fuck or did nothing but Tamps and PESA worked out for me so fruiting those while I let the t3 wedge grow on grain.
I mostly work with minis so I will start 2 or 3 quarts and hopefully have 2 or 3 tubs to let grow for a while, but really want to get some fresh prints to send back to the friend I got these from so hoping I can squeeze a few out of this cake.

Really appreciate the advice. I’m planning on working with tamps and Natalensis exclusively once I have space for a lab again, just trying to keep my drive alive through this transitional period. Thank you very much. Is there actually any risk involved with sterilizing coir? As long as I use gloves and shit? I can’t find a sab big enough to spawn in but I didn’t think people really spawned in sabs either way. No fh yet either unfortunately

you should totally make agar plates and swab the spores direct to agar

I descided to use an empty, clean spore syringe tip. Wasnt using agar so no swabbing. I made three syringes using a half-pint wide mouth jar as an intermediate step. Finally got it done

Tested a PE clone that ended up throwing fruits that look like normal cubes. Im very sure the spawn wasn't mixed up.  Here is where the clone was picked from:

And here is what is produced:

Anyone see this before?  guess im gonna try and get some spores out of it and test the potency.  They finished a lot earlier than a normal PE.  I tested out 4 clones and they all are different from each other.  And none look like the the original MS grow :rofl2:

It’s amazing to me how many phenotypes PE shows up with. That could be a great clone if it’s got the potency and finished fast. I’m curious since most people attribute it to the slow growth.

That’s pretty crazy Ricky:thumbup:
I have another  flow hood question for whoever can help. I built a hood with a cheep eBay Filter that has a dead spot so I’m going to buy a new FP Filter but I don’t know If I should do a 2x3 or a 2x4 Filter. I have a Dayton 1TDU2 blower I plan to use but I want to make sure it will work. I know it will work for the 2x3 Filter but I’m not completely sure about the 2x4. My math shows it will work because the Dayton 1TDU2 puts out 950 CFM at 1.2wg. The filter has a wg of 1.0 and it’s rated for 1200 CFM. For a 2x4 Filter I need 800CFM coming out of the filter (100FPM) for good flow + 20%. So I need about 960 CFM at 1.2 including the pre filters. The Dayton 1TDU2 puts out almost exactly that. So it should work right? Or am I missing something here?

Yes. First clone batch i ran was B+ and they turned out looking like short pans. 2nd clone i ran was an lgt and they turned out half the height and bunk. Personally i feel cloning is unreasonably narrowing genetics.

Did I advise you before to add sections in the hood to increase pressure?

Yeah I tried but it’s still not working right. It has mad air flow everywhere except a 7x7 inch spot in the middle of the right side. I think the filter has a defect or something. I’d rather just build a new one with a realy nice filter then mess with this one any more.

I might take it apart one more time before giving up on it. Maybe I can add 2 more sections and get it too work. I’m just getting tired of fucking with this thing.

Hey guys so I absentmindedly switched my whole spawn routine. New brand of wbs, prep, and lids. Most of my jars prior seemed too wet so I made them drier this time, and I’m getting different growth than normal.  This is five days in.

It’s thinner than I usually see,  but it’s also my first jar of this PE clone.

Does it look healthy to you?? I’m still not great at spawn since until recently I was doing syringe to grain so I couldn’t change anything anyways.

I’m also using lids with about 1/3” hole, one layer of tyvek and that’s it. My older lids had silicone ship and then mp tape over that so I’m not sure if that’s affecting moisture as well.

On top of all that these are my first clones and first a2g so there are so many variables and new contam vectors I’m not sure where I’m at right now.

This is another jar same clone five days in.

I was skimping out on my rye prep for a while and that's what the myc usually looked like due to the grain being too dry.
They all finished, but took for god damn ever.

If it bruises, you'll know for sure that it's just dry.

And if it were your filter, you'd probably only notice on the very top of the grain not colonizing, but everything else colonizing fairly normally.

That makes sense about the filter. As long as it’ll finish I’m happy. I have noticed a few jars growing faster and thicker at the bottom where it’s wetter.

Oh well lesson learned.

Gyps, you’re my absolute favorite member of this site, but here what I’ve got to say

You need to bioassay a clone before you clone it. You need to either eat half of the sample or one of the fruit in the cluster. That’s how you know if it’s a good clone. Speed and aesthetics don’t matter as long as the potency is there.
