So the guy who's been abused by the hospital system is now going to work in a medical capacity where you need to be a certified lab tek but they are going to bypass interviews...
I rate that at 4 pinocchios. Something just doesnt add up

I imagine there's a lot of data entry and shipping clerk jobs open, with all of the testing.

I've researched it thoroughly for my wife. States do have different criteria but none of them are just mass hiring whoever. It ain't the dmv

idk, I don't know much about it, but it seems like the tests are being processed in hubs. I've had 3 tests so far, and 2 of them were sent to Miami (not near me) according to the paperwork.
I wouldn't be surprised if those labs are hiring a lot of temps.
When I was in college I got hired by a lab through a temp agency. Most boring job ever. I had to go through endless cases of old insurance company payment info, compare it by eye to the same info in a database and highlight any discrepancies.

I hope I'm wrong then. Relying on the general public for ..anything is worrisome.

Like I've mentioned many times. I have a a degree in medical laboratory science and biochemistry.
I am getting offers like crazy now they see the need for medical technologists...
it will be most likely RT-PCR but the recruiter didn't know much about the type of test just said they use 2 and I know for sure one is PCR prob by Roche. I know Abbott has developed something but I haven't looked into it.
The samples are sent to the lab and we will perform the test and relay the results to the physician. That's if I take the job...Right now being furloughed this long and relying on AirBnB rentals is getting frustrating. I've worked in ISO5 cleanrooms with infectious diseases so performing COVID test is the same as running someone with Hep C.. Yeah you can fuck up but just be cautious.
They are obviously frantic, this facility is being sprung up right next to the airport, and will take all samples from the state. Talk about $$$$$..

3 week wait on test results right now in Florida. It seems like the lines are going down though, so maybe it's dropping off.
I have to get tested again tomorrow. :/

people are calling my gf about 3 times a week to get tested, her number is the same as the testing centre, except her number ends in 6 and the testing center ends in 9

Nope, still going strong
I understand the fatigue, just dont let your apathy result in anyone elses premature death. How much you value living a long life yourself is your own business but a lot of people who get this shit never know they had it but can still give to other people who it will kill

COVID fatigue is a big enemy towards controlling this.
We should exterminate COVID, like we should with more diseases. We almost got leprosy extinct too and it worked fine for smallpox.

Well i know my cities about to be fucked. they are turning one of our major freeways into 5 lanes....I live out by the farms but a small suburb area... driving into the city blows but i got a small ass car with good gas mileage. Funny everyone talked shit before covid about me buying a yaris now i can fill my tank for 23$ and drive for WEEKS.
We are so fucked....Biden had to pick Kamala to save his ass from being SENILE...
i just got offered 3x the price i paid for my gun.

Has anyone made any big life changes in response to covid and its effects on the economy?
I'm currently planning on listing my house on socal where I have lived for 14 years to return to the upper Midwest to downsize overhead and pull out my equity in case the real estate market bottoms out.
I work in hospitality and I don't see being able to safely work until there is a vaccine distributed. So in making my choices before they are made for me.
Going to buy a really cheap old house and fix it up into its safe to work again. Give myself an equity building job until things are safe.
Just curious how confident people are in their local markets and careers. I'm expecting this to be a rough go so definitely pulling out everything into liquid and then reinvesting in something small.
Covid is putting me in between a rock and a hard place, come unemployment running out I'll need to work but it won't be safe.

Sorry to hear that. My business has been doing quite well like normal. Purchased a new home this year and moved in a few weeks ago. I don’t see any chance of it slowing down anytime soon as we do not make any contact with customers. Wife will actually be quitting her job soon however. Not due to covid but due to the fact that we are able to afford it now. We live in Georgia. We went through one month of lockdown but has been pretty much open since. Life has been good here. My elderly parents have works in public places without masks, for the most part, and have not contracted it. My mother even worked side by side with someone who had a fever and tested positive. She didn’t get sick. I am pretty confident my parents are asymptomatic and willing to bet I am too. We are very mixed racially but I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

Oh mine isn't a poor me story, I'm blessed to be able to make a choice like this. My partner is high risk so we are super careful.
Food and beverage seems to be the hardest hit industry currently as the entire business model needs to evolve into covid times.
My area is a tourist town that is full of the coastal big city visitors. Covid is always on our minds here. Plus knowing all my coworkers are desperate and probably not taking any precautions scares the hell out of me.
