Oh now he’s gotten around to admitting the cases are rising “precipitously”
It’s funny that this isn’t being held at the White House and Trump is not there. He simply doesn’t care about this problem anymore. There’s no winning scenario for him and so he’s bored of it

A friend of mine took me car shopping, so I treated him to lunch at Chilis. Of course we weren't wearing masks inside, but the staff was and all the tables were more than amply set apart.
I felt weird and guilty about it, honestly.

No, it's fucking broken.
I have awesome health insurance with no deductible, that I pay out the ass for, and I still have old and new medical debt that I finally just wiped out. I'm so glad I don't have kids lol, that shit gets sooooo expensive.
Is Canada's system perfect either? nah? Is medicare for all a perfect solution? nah, is there a perfect solution? nah. but the whole healthcare and insurance industry is a fucking a dumpster fire and if you don't look at someone(or their insurance) paying 50 dollars for a single tylenol in the hospital and think that's fucking insane, ridiculous, and the sign of an inefficient, bloated, broken system.....

Yeah but at least they don't assfuck you with 5-6 figure bills for doing so right?
Look it may not be perfect here but anyone making minimum wage can go to the doctor get their birth control or checkups. I know people who have gotten in crashes with astonishing huge Medical bills. Yea 150,000 in bills seems crippling but you don't really have to pay it. You can make small monthly payments forever. Kind of small price to pay for having your life saved. The bills are only crippling if you make them crippling. Otherwise its just a number they hang over you. Oh yes but now you can't buy a home. Bullshit everyone i know that's my age and a homeowner is behind on medical bills. It's lame but we're all in the same boat anyway. People do just fine with medical bills. But they complain to their friends like its keeping them from being able to live while living it up.
In fact the more poor you are it becomes easier to use the emergency room in most cities.
You are completely detached from reality. People avoid going to the doctor because of the cost all the time. People who make a lot more than minimum wage do it. People who have insurance do it becasue of deductible.

I didn't say it's not broken but the idea that poor people cant go to the doctor is far from the truth. And that medical bills are some huge obstacle to being able to go about normal life. I Know multiple people with six figure medical bills and their life is exactly the same. I know one old lady with 6 figure Medical bills and its all she talks about. Same situations different perspectives.
I don't have health insurance specifically to make it easier to go get routine checks lol.

If you can’t afford to see a doctor you can’t see a doctor. They will turn you away unless your life is in danger.
You’re comletely ridiculous.

Yeah, your area might not be as bad yet - but it's a good idea to just pay attention to that case count, I have definitely gotten a lot more relaxed and complacent about things but once that daily case count starts ticking up again I'll probably go back to disinfecting my groceries like a crazy person.
It's easy for me to say 'just only eat at restaurants with outside seating' because my state doesn't regularly get weather that makes it feel like satan's butthole outside....I am sure, though, that it'll make the fall and winter a bit easier on you guys in TX, FL, and other hot states. But for real, one place near me has it figured out. Nice breezy spot, tables spaced far apart, no waiters - you pick up your food and beverages at a little window with a barrier between you and staff.

It's felt hotter than usual here...we usually don't feel this kind of heat until August. It's that kind of heat that steals your breath away when you open the door. Like you got smacked in the face with a hot, wet gym sock. You sweat through a t-shirt smoking a cig outside your door. It's hotter than Satan's taint right now and it messes with my head, honestly. Been taking my temperature regularly because I have never in the 14 years I've lived here sweat through 4 t-shirts in one day.

There was actually supposed to be a fee on my taxes but there was none for no insurance.
Doctors still take cash to see people and low and behold its usually more reasonable than you'd think.
I've never had dental insurance as an adult either and have paid dentists cash

A group of 1000 random Canadians and Americans. One group is always going to look more sloppy.
Yes Canadians definitely live four years longer than American because they look less sloppy. I’ve lived in both countries. Canada is full of rednecks. The ones in Quebec speak French but they’re still rednecks. They’re still overweight and smoke too much.
But overall health includes effectively treating comorbidities and preventing them, which is something “socialist” healthcare systems do far better than we do in the US. So yeah, Canadians are healthier but that’s because of their system.
average USA life expectancy is significantly lowered by fatal injury (you have more car accidents and homicides for example) if you remove fatal injury the usa has the highest life expectancy according to this study
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2011/11/23/the-myth-of-americans-poor-life-expectancy/amp/
Your likelihood of dying in a car crash or homicide don't have anything to do with Healthcare. there is also a chart in there comparing 5 year cancer survival rates. check that one out too.

https://www.today.com/health/viral-face-mask-exemption-cards-are-fake-doj-warns-t185181

A police chief in my state sent out a facebook post a while back telling people to just pretend they had a mental health or medical issue if they didn't feel like wearing a mask in stores. Another one said they'd arrest any board of health agents that came to stores or restaurants to inspect COVID precautions and mask wearing, and charge the agent with trespassing.
Literally the one simple thing we can all do to save lives and get the economy back up and running quicker, but doing anything slightly inconvenient for the benefit of others is just way too much for some people to handle. It's like asking them to be slightly courteous to a fellow human is an affront to everything they stand for and believe in.

Covid deaths in the are US significantly under reported. There are tens of thousands of excess deaths over what would be expected normally and the covid deaths. Our true death toll is more like 175,000. Most states have not counted people who die at home, for example.

JSB, you are very outspoken on your contempt for America, specifically the USA. Just a few posts back you claimed to be some sort of globalist that sees beyond national boundaries.
However, you also present an extremely diverse nation of over 328 million as a one-dimensional hive mind.
I believe the rest of the world loves to focus on the USA and its problems because it takes the attention away from their own issues.
As an Australian, if you feel that everyone currently alive in America has to atone for acts of the past, you should be aware of and focused on the horrific past of Australia:
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/mar/04/the-killing-times-the-massacres-of-aboriginal-people-australia-must-confront
This is staggering, less than a hundred years ago the government had coordinated efforts to slaughter native peoples...
Quote:
Government forces were actively engaged in frontier massacres until at least the late 1920s.
To relate this to COVID, according to the Australian health department, aboriginal people's are at a greater risk, and the reasons given look to be related to the systemic oppression of these peoples.

Probably still being collected, unfortunately. I don't think we're gonna have a clear view on any of that stuff for years tbh.
