We're talking about a brand new virus that will likely kill millions across the world and sicken possibly billions, if that virus becomes a permanent fixture that we don't build long-term immunity to, obviously a whole lot more changes than perception. The statistical likelihood of death and serious illness directly increases for ourselves and everyone around us.
And to build long term immunity, we must become exposed in order to naturally develop antibodies and T cells, which aren't spoken on much. Focus seems to be on antibodies.
Pulmonary immunopathology. Must have skipped that wall of text.
Vaccines are not as effective as we would like to think.
Coronavirus vaccines leading to Pulmonary immunopathology. Which may be why animal trials have been skipped.
This is a risk that has been recognized years ago.

6 months into this pandemic and we're 464,830 dead folks in worldwide. We're just at the start of this pandemic. The Spanish Flu lasted, what? 2 years?
My friend we will hit a million before you know it.

Cannot speak for anyone else but my acknowledgement of the death toll hitting that high was accounting for African outbreak
to my comprehension it has had a lag in getting there

No it was said millions would be dead by now. Go back a few hundred pages and see the same conversation happen then as now.

It's crazy seeing how out of touch people are. I keep hearing people talk as if we're somehow 'past the peak'. What we've seen so far was a small ripple, the tidal wave is unfortunately en route barring that "miracle" trump was talking about back in March.

I know what you meant but just to clarify it didn't last 2 years, it went away and came back. Because the flu is seasonal. Wave 2 was the deadliest, wave 3 wasn't as bad.
I think covid is going to last... more than 2 years... and it's probably going to have more casualties because it doesn't go away. Well that and there's about 4 billion more people in the world than there was in 1918.
But we are very fortunate that it is not the spanish flu and the majority of people do not die within 48 hours.
Alot of this... almost all projections, very much depend on what medicine can give us.

Good point do not think any of us accounted back then for the posibility that there would be all sorts of morons pushing narratives about Covid not being a concern
definite blind spot in our predictions

That's part of the consequences of misleading people into believing that shutting down would end the virus.
Or at least not being very clear and continuously reiterating what "flattening the curve" actually means.
But it would be rather hard to convince people to let the great depression 2.0 happen if it wouldn't even actually end the threat.

No it was said millions would be dead by now. Go back a few hundred pages and see the same conversation happen then as now.
It was said by pretty much every expert that shutting things down and keeping people away from eachother would drastically halt the spread, and the people would then think we overreacted, because the plan worked.
It's pretty obvious globally that it worked out that way. Pretty crazy, if you reduce the spread of a virus drastically, less people get it and die from it as a result. Once you stop the reduction efforts, it picks up where it left off.
How is that hard to understand?

Arguably, Sweden's economy taking a hit despite not locking down shows that you would have had to convince the whole world not to lock down and may have even then collided with depression due to illnesses

Are you arguing that the shutdown was pointless, or that it's pointless to understand that more people now having exponentially more opportunity to spread, get, and die from a virus means that more people will spread, get, die from the virus?

No I think it's kinda pointless.
Viruses are nature. We are nature. Nature wants us dead? Were dead.
Trying to control death has always been mans folly. We have survived all this time on earth(relatively short) because nature has a balance. Modern man seems hell bent on disturbing that balance. I say let nature do its thing. If I die so what? What's my life on earth/the universes timeline?

We're literally the product of an evolutionary drive based upon survival and reproduction.
