Yea I’d say so. That’s why they always talk about building immunities. Don’t hide from life. Let your children play on the floor. Don’t wrap them or yourself in plastic and hide from life. That is the worst thing in the long run. They say children who grow up with dogs have pretty good immune systems.
I really think people need to get out and get infected. The sooner the better. I still think having covid camps is a good idea. Purposely build Community immunity ... coimmunity lol..

if we found a lesser virus that conferred immunity we should spread it like the plague
im worried china has already done this

That’s a terrible idea. If everyone gets infected you’re looking at 1-3 million dead in the US and tens of millions of very expensive and resource intensive hospitalizations. Even in the hardest hit areas, we’re only at around 10% of the population having been infected. The country as a whole has probably seen about 2% penetration.
If it happens too fast then we will run out of resources. People who aren’t dying now - the 30 year olds that survive because they can handle a week on a ventilator - will die just like the elederly.

A lot of infections means a lot more opportunity for mutations

Do virus mutate during replication within a human cell? Or when it has been broken and recombined? I only remember hearing of mutations after it’s been broken. I feel that the dna the virus injects in a cell is simply replicated.

Mutations are small errors in replication and happen within the cell of the host.

Mutations are usually just a change in one nucleotide.
What you’re taking about is recombination and that is how a completely new virus is created

Lots of good data in that lancet paper about factors other than chloroquines correlated with mortality. Doesn’t look good for smokers, but look at ace inhibitors.

A mutation doesn’t necessarily mean the virus becomes more or less virulent. But if this virus is so bad maybe it would be a good thing to see some mutations.

I think most mutations either have no effect or make the virus non functional.

Wait, what, ACE inhibitors DECREASE mortality? I thought they increased it.
On Perindopril myself.

Tantrika may have some advice for you.
The best outcome I envision with regard to this virus is some combination of therapeutics and prophylactics that significantly reduce mortality. If we get a vaccine of some greater or lesser usefulness or a mutation that effects virulence to some extent, great.

Given 98% of the population is largely unaffected by this and ~60% is entirely unaffected, there isn't really that much to worry about as far as outcomes though, from a medical concern. 99% of the global population is effected by our actions however.

Lol, according to the WHO
Quote:
For COVID-19, data to date suggest that 80% of infections are mild or asymptomatic
Hence I said, largely unaffected. I put it at ~60%, so yeah I was wrong. It is more like 80%.
