Huge lancet published study should put any debate about hydroxxhloroquine to rest. Use of the drug is associated with more than double the rate of death in covid patients.
This kind of result calls into question the ethics of even continuing other clinical trial. Any other drug that doubled the rate of death would have its trials halted.

96 032 patients (mean age 53·8 years, 46·3% women) with COVID-19 were hospitalised during the study period and met the inclusion criteria. Of these, 14 888 patients were in the treatment groups (1868 received chloroquine, 3783 received chloroquine with a macrolide, 3016 received hydroxychloroquine, and 6221 received hydroxychloroquine with a macrolide) and 81 144 patients were in the control group. 10 698 (11·1%) patients died in hospital. After controlling for multiple confounding factors (age, sex, race or ethnicity, body-mass index, underlying cardiovascular disease and its risk factors, diabetes, underlying lung disease, smoking, immunosuppressed condition, and baseline disease severity), when compared with mortality in the control group (9·3%), hydroxychloroquine (18·0%; hazard ratio 1·335, 95% CI 1·223–1·457), hydroxychloroquine with a macrolide (23·8%; 1·447, 1·368–1·531), chloroquine (16·4%; 1·365, 1·218–1·531), and chloroquine with a macrolide (22·2%; 1·368, 1·273–1·469) were each independently associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality.

The whole Southeast is ahead of the curve on this one. At least compared to PA. We're getting better though. You can buy beer and wine in grocery stores and certain gas stations now, our(state run) liquor stores are open on Sundays now. You still cannot buy beer at the liquor store, and have to go to a beer distributor for over a certain amount. Purchase amounts at grocery stores are limited, but they'll still sell you the product(so you don't HAVE to go to the distributor technically), they just make you do it in separate purchases it's the dumbest thing ever. But we have vastly improved.

LOL, it is 24/7/365 in La. If I wanted a half gallon of whiskey and vodka, a keg, and 10 bottles of wine at 3:00 a.m., no problem. You can walk into a bar, buy a mixed drink, and walk right back out with it full and down the street drinking away.

Trump just had a press conference declaring churches essential businesses and demanding they open. He is a seriously dangerous person. Such reckless posturing.

(Matthew 6:5-8) 5 “Also, when you pray, do not act like the hypocrites, for they like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the main streets to be seen by men.
6 But when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret. Then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you.

Trumps own task force now says the DC area is the current covid hotspot and he still refuses to wear a mask
Quote:
White House coronavirus task force coordinator Deborah Birx said Friday that the Washington, D.C., metro area currently has the highest COVID-19 positivity rate out of all cities across the country. Birx said that the D.C. metro area, which includes Northern Virginia and Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland, currently leads the country in the percentage of positive cases compared to the total number of people tested for the novel coronavirus. The D.C. metro region is followed by Baltimore, Chicago and Minneapolis, Birx said
