I haven't even gotten my first check yet. It's scheduled for tomorrow, thank fuck. I need to order some spores and get this show on the road.
Oh and also pay bills and do responsible grown up things with it.
@BlindAss
So far, yes. There's a push for more, but we need some serious middle ground. Lots of proposals for things like 2k per person, per month, but that'll never pass.
Though I'd rather see that than this

The Blind Ass said: Correct me if I’m wrong, but according to the legislature - the US taxpayers are only going to receive this 1 stimulus package (basically $1,200 per person) just one time right?
As in, there hasn’t been another bill in the works for say, the rest of the year, right?
Because, more or less life as it is now, is our new life- minus if reopening small pockets of the US economy over time proves wise in the end.
Congress is actually doing reading another stimulus package. One of the biggest problems with our small business loan from being depleted so quickly was that the companies they got the most money were giant corporations like shake shake and Ruth Chris the latter being an extremely expensive restaurant that has a lot of money backing it. It's sickening because that money is gone.

God bless Australia.
It's seeing things like that that make me realize how blessed I am that I'll be able to move there when I hit forty.
There's nowhere else in the world I'd rather be.

I just got back from a nessesary grocery run. I had to cough so I coughed into my arm I was the only person in the place with a mask and gloves. Everyone stopped and looked at me judgingly even tho I'm the only one with mask or gloves. The cough was virus unrelated just clearing some mucus.
Thought that was funny.

Where the hell do you live that you were the only one with mask and gloves? Somewhere in the NE since you hunt ovoids presumably?
at least 2/3 of people are wearing masks here. Even a lot of the latino population is wearing them.
there is definitely a sense that the people who are not wearing them are scoffing at the rest of us, though.
I wear an N95 with a surgical mask that has a face mask attached to it when I go indoor shopping. I had to ask employee a question and he clearly had to stifle a laugh. To be fair, I don't see anyone else wearing face masks, but... they honestly ought to be doing something to protect their eyes.

Funny and frightening I'd say. This is a very strange time right now. The AIDS epidemic in the 80's is the closest I've come to experiencing something like it. SARS as well. I am starting to think that whoever wears a mask in public and whoever doesn't is the diff between a dem and repub. I get some looks or smirks from non mask people if I'm wearing one. And vice versa if not.

I'm from southeast ky and my town has one case so far and only around 2500 cases statewide and only like 100 deaths so far. So, I kinda get how people could get complacent but I'm gonna wear my mask and gloves forsure. Why not.

In Dallas the mask wearing increased significantly
It went from the earlier stages of the pandemic to like maybe 1 or 2 people out of ten wearing, to last week where it seemed like more than half of those out were wearing masks.
This past Saturday it became mandatory if you're out in public in Dallas.

Is COVID-19 a proteiform disease inducing also molecular mimicry phenomena?
I thought this was interesting:
Quote:
After studying the published clinical reports, what surprised me is that most patients who had the most severe complications were affected by two comorbidities (or their long-term effects): hypertension and diabetes. Both of them induce, among other problems, chronic stress on endothelial cells that in turn can express molecules on their plasma membranes abnormally as an effect of post-translational modifications of intracellular proteins, including some heat shock proteins. This condition can predispose cells and tissues to molecular mimicry phenomena that may occur during an infection (Cappello et al. 2009; Delunardo et al. 2013; Kotlarz et al. 2013; Mayr et al. 1999; Sun et al. 2006).
If we add to this chronic stress an acute stress due to the low pO2 blood concentration and systemic inflammation, all the conditions for a perfect storm are present. My hypothesis is that the disease escapes from the hands of the doctors who are treating it through a fog of molecular mimicry phenomena: antibodies against the viruses might cross-react with epitopes of self-proteins abnormally expressed on the plasma membrane surface of stressed endothelial cells. In turn, these autoimmune reactions against endothelium can generate thrombosis, disseminated intravascular coagulation and multi-organ failure.
