We would be royally fucked by the overwhelming number of infected people, so much so that our society could collapse, so stop complaining and do something about it instead. There has got to be alternatives to just complaining about the government and your situation.(if the current emergency protocols in the country are unfortuitous for you).
I really feel for people with families and children who depend on the gov or are in debt or living paycheck to pack check in this time - maybe we can create a thread and discuss viable options for dealing with financial troubles and other things that are troubling during the pandemic.
What’s in places now- with the declared national emergency measures from state to state and the feds is better than nothing, much better.
But that is practically what happened. Nothing serious was done. People are allowed to go through drive throughs. Workers do not have to be tested. They waited forever to shut down an airport.
Now every day people complain and complain and post death stat updates with no positive news claiming if we "do not take things seriously" things will get worst. How is anything being taken seriously anyway?
You can't go to the beach because of social distancing but can crowd into other areas and touch items at the grocery store etc. Wtf is that?

I had to go out for groceries today, and there were still only around 1-2 / 10 people wearing any PPE. That’s really frustrating, because if everyone in the country would, at the verrrry least, wear a damn mask in public, it would help a lot and things would be better than they are.

So true. Look I like to be able tp go to the store to get stuff right now just like anyone else but it is really stupid when you think about it.
You can't even go to massive national parks right now where you have hundreds and in some cases literally thousands of square miles to social distance with, yet you can go to your loc grocery store where everyone in that zip code has been.

I think the strategy in place is to slow it down enough for the hospitals to raise their capacity rather than actually try to contain it completely. It's hard to tell anymore. I hear so conflicting information and it doesn't seem like there's much real leadership behind the efforts.

Yeah i guess why contain it completely? Just slow it down. Anyone that does not get this concept needs all the major death stats shoved in their face for the next 2 - 4 months while we continue the partial lockdown.
Can't people understand this is how lives are saved? I mean kind of a lot of lives are sort of being saved. At this moment. By somewhat partially locking down for a few more months to slow the spread while lots of people end up jobless and suffer. Anyone who does not understand that is just plain selfish.

Yes, it’s to slow things down enough for multiple reasons. Giving time to hospitals and other medical facilities to not be so overwhelmed all at once so that they won’t just outright become dysfunctional is crucial because they are the locations that can do specialized care for the virus and for every other medical problem. Imagine the chaos that would ensue if they were bombarded by an entire countries worth of infected and sick individuals, plus all the individuals that need to be there for a non covid19 related reason. More people would die from unrelated causes to the virus if hospitals were completely overcapacity and more because it wouldn’t be wise to bring in non covid related patients with problems because of exposure etc, and more people would get sick and need a hospital - covid and non covid patients....making the hospital massive vectors, and more and more staff becoming infected and dying....The rippling implications would be huge.
Because the hospitals are the front lines right now , in a matter of speaking. Grocery stores, fast food chains, some restaurants, stores that have daily living necessities and commodities , are all necessary because so many people depend upon them to live. Drive through and some other things may seem weird or wrong, but if you think about it ...in our day and age there is a significant portion of the population I’d depending upon that means for nutrition almost daily. That’s why suggestions and guidelines from the CDC and the feds and the states about PPE is so damn important, because those places are necessary at all times - yet highly vulnerable bc of that fact.
Personal Protective Gear people... masks, gloves, sanitizer, change of clothes, showers, hand washing, social distancing, etc etc.
That’s how the population, the public , the everyday men and woman and children can do their part to help during this pandemic. At the very least! You can do more, help family, friends, neighbors, or volunteer etc. just do it with Your brains and listen to the CDC ...
A lot of what happens and what has been happening is up to the public, up to us, up to you. Or do you need big brother to tell you and help you put on your underwear...shroomery😤 Be proactive, think for yourself, but take suggestions from those who know what the fuck they are talking about , like the CDC...and your mom. She says hi, btw,

Ok so one foot in and one foot out basically. Basically no one knows what to do like countries that seem to have a much better grip on their healthcare system so in the mean time kind of hot kind of cold kind of here kind of there little bit of this and a little bit of that not so strong in one section and not so strong in the other.
Kind of like the government takes some time off while they can go think about this thing for a minute.
Well, I totally got it. I will keep up with the CDC since they know what the fuck they are doing.
No elephant in the room here guys.

As of today, you are not allowed in a store without a mask in Maryland

I guess no one looked at your link because if they did, this would have been worth repeating; Iceland already tested 10% of its population, which is more than any other country, and half are not showing any symptoms. That’s double the CDC’s recent estimate...
That's potentially a lot a people that don't even know they're contagious.
And this nonsense that Trump is some kind of master troller, and the need his base has to defend and justify his constant lying, narcissistic, racist, unintelligent and dangerous behavior and actions defies logic. It reeks of mental illness which is understandable, considering the moron they worship.

Very scary, and yet, somehow also mildly reassuring. I can't figure out if it freaks me out more or makes me feel better. This is such a prolific and contagious virus. Truly a monster.
I also have a feeling that a good chunk of those "asymptomatic" folks were probably just in fact, presymptomatic at the time of the test.
