I noticed the other day that the mushrooms were almost sold out at the grocery store I go to the other day. It's somewhat on edge of the ghetto so a lot more black people shop there. I'm a middle-aged, middle-class white dude but I prefer that store and the people that shop there over the hoity-toity white folk that shop at Target.
It made me wonder if/why they were being bought more than usual but the Vit D thing makes sense
Still, sounds like mis-information about black people not getting as much Vit D from the sun. The extra melanin in their skin causes it to be darker but that also means their skin absorbs more light, not less??

Let me clear it up, I didn't say Van Jones said that. I was talking about brand new Chinese YT accounts posting comments under the Van Jones video, saying that America is deliberately killing blacks and asians.
Yea I did because you said that you worded your post poorly, which I agree with. Then I took the +1 back after I read the next part where you said you were not spreading misinformation.
Alrighty, thanks for clearing that up.

Some athletes take it way too far. They push their hearts to the limit regularly. The consume nutrient deficient diets to stay cut. Going on cuts in and of itself increases risk of complications bc all that fat gets released into the blood. Now is not the time for fasting imo.
Having said that if you have a healthy BMI your chances of having lung or respiratory problems are far less in general. Moderate exercise to promote healthy body weight is almost certainly advisable

so, again, what does proper health mean in a society where perceptions of the ideal of practicing health are steroid pumping weight lifters and marathon runners who keep going 'til they shit themselves or 'freebleed' their period blood all over
how do we engage with and promote working out without overworking out and without resorting to everyone just doing yoga and tai chi which would be cool with me tbh

Wasn’t poor wording on your part, I caught it. You specifically said Van Jones didn’t say it but some of the members have problems with the finer delicacies of the english language, whether in spoken language or text.

Sprints (or even just walking) and weight lifting are so much healthier than marathon running or jogging. Idk how some of these old people can keep that shit up.

"Dr. Brooks indicated that the usual explanation for low levels of serum 25(OH)D [gets converted to Vitamin D, I think, maybe Morrowasted could explain this particular part better than me] in non-White populations was skin color. He alluded to data that suggested that during the summer months, darker people do not synthesize as much vitamin D as people with lighter skin, signifying that the rate of synthesis is lower with darker skin.
The Ottawa study measured skin color and serum levels of 25(OH)D. It was designed to analyze the impact of skin color separately from the impact of other genetic differences. Results from the study showed that South Asians have darker skins than whites and have a wide range of color. There is a slight decrease in vitamin D among South Asians, as skin color gets darker. However, the difference between South Asians and Whites was remarkable (25 nmol/L). Thus, the data suggest that the differences in 25(OH)D levels could be due to other unexplained factors, with genetics being one of them. Also, sunbathing/tanning was believed to influence the results in the White group. Comparisons of the differences in 25(OH)D levels during the fall and spring months of South Asians versus White Canadians, with respect to sex, age, BMI, cholesterol and vitamin D intake (food and supplement), led Dr. Brooks to believe that these different 25(OH)D levels are at least partially explained by race"
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5954269/
"Vitamin D is made by your skin when it is exposed to the ultraviolet light of the sun. Sunscreen use, seasonal changes and time spent outdoors can alter vitamin D levels. Darker skin contains more melanin, which equates to greater protection against ultraviolet radiation exposure. Because of this protective effect, people of color must spend more time in the sun to make vitamin D compared to those with lighter skin colors."

Sounds like he made the issue so convoluted you got confused too. It’s good to know what members are trying to catch you in a ‘gotcha’ moment. They have ways of muddying the intellectual waters. In the confusion they will always try for the moral high ground. Watch out.
I have actually noticed what could be chinese accounts blaming the virus on America and trying to stir the racial pot. Whether it’s chinese shills or not, who knows. Could even be opportunistic trolls role-playing.
Funny you mentioned the gotcha moment about the same time as me trying to post this.
Serendipity of the highest order.

It might not be totally bad info. I've been reading that vitamin D might play an important factor in an individual fighting off the COVID19 virus. Lighter skin people can create vitamin D in sunlight much faster than dark skinned people, which might be protecting them more.
There are definitely socio-economic factors at play too, I think.
I do hope the vitamin D thing holds some water because I've started supplementing with hella vitamin D. I have very low levels already though, so it's something I probably should've been doing forever now.
I've also started taking fish oil pills, magnesium, and tumeric, but I'm guessing it'll mostly make me feel better more than anything
my tendency to sleep during the day and go out for summer nights has meant taking supplements for years interestingly, Vitamin C has been sold out off the shelves for weeks, but Vitamin D just sits there despite social distancing starting in winter months where everyone was indoors or going out covered in layers
can you take hemp seed or hemp seed oil instead of fish oil where you are? seem to recall something about hemp seed oil having the proper ratios for the human body while fish oil has excess of one
Wow interesting - I should be able to order hemp seed oil. I used to use hemp seed and flax seed for smoothies all the time, but I guess it would be more beneficial to get the oil itself.
I have two full sacks of oranges in my fridge, I've been eating like 2-3 a day. Hope that helps lol.

The shelled seed (you can't typically buy the seed in shells because of provisions against selling something viable for planting) is typically healthier than the oil to my comprehension and use the shelled hemp seed in smoothies, or even just put a couple table spoons on top of my peanut butter toast
Also, upon further reflection, am pretty sure Vitamin D was first suggested to me by my GP in Montréal but as a way to counter Seasonal Affective Disorder in the winter months rather than my current practice of taking it regularly year round
and yeah, have a bunch of frozen orange juice just due to liking the taste it is the 'homestyle' with added pulp, but it is still from concentrate which is not as nice as fresh bottles but also much more long-term storage friendly but really "ought" to be eating oranges -- extra pulpy juice is a sub-par substitute but better than no-pulp orange juice which has none of the fruit's potassium
my Nana has been having hemp seed oil capsules every day for almost 20 years now and is one of the healthiest elderly people in my life but her only form of exercise anymore is walking and dancing

I believe the strength of your immune system is key in fighting off the most horid of sicknesses. I believe this is and always has been sound medical advice. A strong heart and strong immune system will surely be the foundation to biting down and surviving what the elements of nature throw at your body.
Do not take my word for it. Ask an expert of course

The fact that your nearly 100 year old grandmother is still walking let alone dancing is amazing, but goes to show you how important exercise is.
I found some whole hemp seeds from Nuts.com! Luckily I think the legalization bill that the states passed last year-ish makes it possible - is it really still that hard to find whole hemp seeds in CA? They didn't legalize hemp along with mj?

Honey is a miracle that contains natural antibiotics yet it does interfere with your own naturally occuring bacteria. If I were you I would guzzle honey by the gallon for the next few months. Assuming you aren't worried about becoming diabetic because the of the extremely large sugar content.

Wouldn't just buying bee pollen be a good alternative to loads of honey?
I used to make raw vinegar and raw honey drinks to avoid or ease sicknesses, seemed to help a good bit.

Hemp seed has been legal longer in Canada than smokable cannabis has like...10-15+ years earlier have been wearing hemp all my life, and eating it since moving out on my own around 19
but they have provisions around it the raw hemp seed can't be sold in the shell -- can't sell any product which could be used to grow hemp so companies either have to cook it in the shell, which destroys the omega fats and turns them into trans fats (as is the case with cooking with the oil -- has to be kept under a certain temperature) or they have to shell the seed and sell "hemp hearts" which is the most common once it is shelled it has to be in airtight packaging, then after opening has to be refrigerated to keep from spoiling at least, this is how it was laid out for me by my father's friends who own one of the oldest hemp seed for food companies in Canada, Manitoba Harvest
the shells get ground up and sold as protein powder for shakes and smoothies then some of the raw hemp seed gets packaged and sold, while some get further pressed into the oil for bottles or oil capsules
but hemp is still not legal for personal unlicensed production to my comprehension arguably, this is the most crooked thing about Trudeau's approach because it means citizens can't grow their own food or produce their own fiber crops to spin clothing which most people are no longer independent enough to do, but laws like this further force that dependency
oh + pretty sure extracts are never going to be fully and properly legal here so still can't buy hash from my medical suppliers -- only extracts they offer are THC or CBD oils and capsules
