not if people just presume that they have it and stay home.
so it might be good to focus testing on the essential worker crowd first. quarantine the positives. test asymptomatic people known to be in close contact with symptomatic people. but testing the obviously symptompatic people may be sort of a waste of a test at this point. the diagnostic markers are pretty clear without need to run an actual test

The COVID-19 vaccine development landscape
"The global vaccine R&D effort in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented in terms of scale and speed. Given the imperative for speed, there is an indication that vaccine could be available under emergency use or similar protocols by early 2021. This would represent a fundamental step change from the traditional vaccine development pathway, which takes on average over 10 years, even compared with the accelerated 5-year timescale for development of the first Ebola vaccine, and will necessitate novel vaccine development paradigms involving parallel and adaptive development phases, innovative regulatory processes and scaling manufacturing capacity."

binary thinking and having to ignore reality cuz its too complicated will lead to millions of deaths.
I dont watch the news but I pay attention to whats going on its not that complicated. Not scrutinizing every detail of society handling this crisis will have lasting impacts for years, generations. Everyone is posting RIP their friends and this just started.
And the largest corporations were already bailed out, they are already taken care of, they were not too big to fail. Now it is in their interests to get you back out using their shit. They want you to die right now And they own the whitehouse.

While of course any money making operation wants us back out there buying, obviously, and the largest corporations are no exception -- it's not only about that, cannabinated.
Every single other non-essential business out there, all the way down to the tiniest ones, want...no let me rephrase, need to make income. For the majority of these small businesses they cannot survive a lengthy shutdown.
Now the question is, is it worth risking their lives altogether to do so? Well that would depend on the individual I guess.
I don't think it's as cut & dried as getting us back out there is only for the huge corporations. I guarantee you there's a ton of people tied to small businesses, people of all ethnic backgrounds and political views and whatever else who all have one thing in common -- and that's to somehow start making some income again.
Now let me be clear. I am not saying that we should just open stuff up back to normal so people can make money. I am not saying that at all. I'm just pointing out that a shit ton of people out there are in very dire financial straits right now and are incredibly desperate who have zero interest or ties whatsoever to big corporations.

They are all owned by the same people who own the banks that everyone is in debt too.
Anyone who doesnt have money stockpiled or stay at home job isnt going to survive, that was my point. We can put the economy on hold, invoke the defense production act... and the government and banks can work out how whose debt to freeze and offer incentives and what not. But ya'll dont want it
And btw the economy will be so much moare fucced if we let everyone get it.

I know Logic, I'm sorry man, I thought it was a nice breath of fresh air too from the constant new case numbers and death updates but apparently the recovery numbers are very bad and upsetting to some people and we can't have those here because it's like celebrating the survivors of Columbine or something like that.
Wow, sorry dude. Didn't realize how sensitive you are. A little constructive criticism really up-ends your whole world huh?
Sorry, I'll be more careful to walk on eggshells around you in the future.

Actually Niffla brought it up like 10 times since I said something.
As usual you're trying to start shit that has nothing to do with you. I just gave my point of view. Never said he has to abide by it or act a certain way. Just my opinion and that is all.
My point is very valid and not ridiculous at all. I'm all for positivity, but when 1000's of people are dying it comes off as odd to praise the survivors. Like 9/11 or Columbine. How many times have you heard someone trying to make those positive by saying "at least 2,300 people survived the massacre" or whatever it is.
If you had a parent dying of Corona then your view might be different.

You're out of your mind. There are all kinds of stories about people that survived 9/11.
Same with Columbine.

For real Niffla, bring back the recovery posts. I liked seeing them and anybody that finds it offensive as if it relates to Columbine or something is a mamby pamby lil bitch.
You got enough comments from people saying they liked them that I hope you'll pick it back up

Of course there are. You're missing the point completely.
The stories of those survivors aren't told to put a positive spin on the massacre and aren't intended as a way to forget about or belittle the people that died in those incidents.
As I said, I know what Niffla's intentions are and I think that they were great. My point was that some people, especially people that are losing a parent or loved one to Corona, might view those comments about survivors in a different way. When your parent is dying alone with tubes down their throat then you don't really want to hear about the number of people that made it through.
Niffla and anyone else can post whatever they want. My intentions aren't to tell people what to post or not. I'm just giving my view of how it may come across to some and that is all.
