It's also a reason for pretty much the whole of our community here, and for the vast majority of people, to stop bloody panicking.
I don't think anyone here is afraid of dieing from the virus. I mean some are, but most are afraid of an extended halt on trade and commerce that brings us goods and provides our stable lifestyle we have become accustomed to.
As exemplified by the toilet paper hoarding phenomenon. 100% irrelevant to fighting the disease.

Have people died due to panic? I haven't heard of any real panic
From what I've seen people in my community are going about business as usual but being careful not to do stupid shit. I mean people are stocking up and shit but that's not harmful.

How are we gonna wipe out the virus otherwise?

Update on the local grocers... food was half stocked back up at the 24 hour Walmart at 5am this morning.
The stores and distributors can't take consecutive hits like this.
Not for long anyway.
Got a package from Hong Kong today and was like

The housewives beating each other senseless over the last pack of toiletpaper in walmart are not the people talking in this thread.
There is no "panic" here because the regular contributors are quite well informed compared to the average population. And, well informed quite early, might I add!

The panic has taken place in Montreal since yesterday or the day before.
Grocery store is getting emptied.
Officials don't present predictions for the coming weeks, meaning they think it would cause a bigger hysteria than there already is.

Gun stores are crazy right now as well. Ammo is going really fast at some stores.. Some Walmart’s have stopped all ammo sales.

It’s funny you think this will happen despite no evidence, yet think the virus is overblown. My take is you are just terrible at risk assessment. Imagine thinking that people are going to get killed becasue of panic yet you think not shaking hands is ridiculous.
A run on grocery stores when public health officials are talking about potential quarantines isn’t panic. I saw nobody panicking at the grocery store.
You just think cynicism is edgy and cool

Cutting out handshakes is retarded
The risk of a handshake, though, is related to hand hygiene practices, says Lisa Maragakis, senior director of infection prevention in the Johns Hopkins Health System
I work in healthcare, and for the last couple weeks the email updates on COVID-19 have included recommendations to not shake hands.

BANANA.MAN said: looks like most new cases in Canada are still linked to travel outside the country. hopefully people who have been exposed continue to isolate themselves. I'm thinking we might have enough time until more tests are available so maybe we can drastically reduce the spread of this.
but idk they arent even testing Trudeau even though his wife has it lol the criteria for testing is way too narrow. only people with synptoms get tested but as we know someone can be contagious for 14 days without showing synptoms. We need to be doing what South Korea is doing until a vaccine is available.
They only test people who traveled, therefore only people who traveled got it. I believe there are way more cases in canada than anyone knows. Trudeau is a dick but I have no beef with his old lady and hope its a mild case

At the grocery store they wiped down the area after every customer. No hand sanitizer for the customers though.
