as seen in:  https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25919872/fpart/41/vc/1#25919872

NW Coastal, Fall/Winter 2019-'20
Found in grassy areas frequented by large Roosevelt Elk herds; coastal pastures, river banks, dune grass, ball fields, lawns, parks, trailsides and clearcuts from sea level to about 1500 ft. Also found on horse trails and rabbit trails near manure in dense grasses. Seems to prefer mixed grass fields and disturbed areas. Nearly always near elk manure or in grazed areas.

Resembles P. cinctulus and P. fimicola most closely.

Spore print black. Gills graey when young black when mature. Cap and stem extremely variable, sometimes showing redness when cold. Very cold tolerant I bet theyre still out there. Most prevalent closest to the ocean, less common in the hills.

Here are collections from a handful of locations from west of the coast range in OR, sea level-~200'. They are most common in the NW corner, but ive found them more than halfway down the coast.

Have specimens+prints dried+labelled for microscopy/ DNA :pm:

Man i really dont know. they are so variable. i may be collecting a few species they all have characteristics of acuminatus, fimicola, and "cinctulus" [(group)?] im hoping Alan or somebody has the time to mess with them.

thanks for the suggestion. have you found that species with confidence out there?

You likely have a mixed collection and i would agree with acuminatus/fimicola.

the conical shaped caps resemble acuminatus more so then fimicola afaik. but its likely you have a mixed collection

Yes, these are textbook specimens, from the conical, veil-less cap through its
overall chestnut to maroon colors down to the mycelium covered stem base.
