Boletus flaviporus and maybe regius?
    #26443329 - 01/20/20 03:06 PM (4 years, 9 days ago)

Both found in California in the Sierra foothills around 1800 feet. The first was found in a group of three, the largest of which was the only out of the duff and full of worms. Found growing on the forest floor around oak, pine, and manzanita. Cap is reddish/brown. Gills are sponge and yellow, doesn’t seem to bruise. Stem is thick and firm, white with traces of reddish brawn close to the cap. Does not stain blue when cut.

Second is much smaller. Found in group of 5 at the base of a dead manzanita. Extremely vibrant yellow gills that do not bruise. Cap colored light brown. Does not stain when cut. Stem also firm and white with some reddish parts.

On further review the larger ones might be edulis? That would be awesome.

First three pictures looks like something in the B. edulis group. Should be pretty obvious from smell and taste.

I'm not locally familiar with Californian species (I live in Norway) but from pictures the rest are possibly Aureoboletus flaviporus.
