Aerial mycelium - not enough fresh air?
    #26443294 - 01/20/20 02:48 PM (4 years, 9 days ago)

I had a bit of leftover myc and compost so I made a 3rd shoebox using the leftover stuff. It was just . 1/2 pint of myc that wasn't completely colonized (but close) and about 1.5 inches of compost mixed together.

This morning I checked it and it's colonizing nicely but looks kind of stringy, like tendrils. I read about aerial tendrils and that I should give it more FAE, but not sure if this is what I'm seeing or if that is good advice.

Can anyone have a look and let me know their thoughts?

thanks !!

You can't really go wrong with more air. Of course unless you let shit dry out but just give more air if you aren't yet?

Ok, I'll start fanning them morning and night.

Are there any thoughts about how to know if things are drying out? It doesn't look like it's drying out but I can certainly see less humidity around the shoebox compared to before. So, what am I looking for to know if I need to mist?

Like just keep it glisteny on the surface but not saturated or pooling. Dryness just looks dry

If you leave the lid un snapped there’s no need to fan.

Looks like it’s almost time for pins.
