Moving to brf to bulk, question about ratio/calculation. 1

Hey all!
First I want to thank all the incredible people here who have helped me on my journey thus far! I've been doing pf tek cakes for almost a year now. In that time I had a lot of fun with them and, obviously, some frustrations too. But I am glad I started with that route because it taught me a lot (most of all it taught me a great deal about patience).
I've been studying agar and I will soon put the Pf tek in the past.
However, before I do, I have 8 cakes colonizing right now. Instead of birthing them to a fruiting chamber, I want to have a go at cakes to bulk. With that being said I have a couple of questions.
I am using this for coir prep:
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24077162/fpart/1/vc/1
and the information here
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24945782
My question is
1) In the latter link it states "Add your desired ratio of prepped coir.(I like 1:2)". Is this still the recommended ratio? And how is this calculated? (I have the 650g bricks of coir and my cakes are in half pint wide mouth jars).
If there are any threads I should read to better understand this, please post them. Thanks again all!

I've been lurking and reading lately and I've been seeing that they go all the way up to 1 to 4.
Seems to vary by the type of cube you're growing

Using more spawn than substrate will colonise faster giving less chance for any contamination, more substrate will take longer to colonise and doesn't add (very little) nutrients just causing the mycelium to waste more energy colonising all that extra substrate. Coir is to add the moisture for the fruits to produce with correct water levels.
Other substrates like manure do add alot of nutrients but require proper pasteurisation.

8 half pints of BRF should be 2 quarts of spawn (2 pints = 1 quart)
just spawn it 50/50 BRF to coir. i’m pretty sure that’s how most shoeboxes are done with grains
if you really wanna spread it out, you could split the 8 jars into two shoe boxes & just use more coir to make up for the missing spawn, so like a 25/75 BRF to coir. idk how big of a difference in colonization/flush using more spawn does, but you’re gonna get mushrooms either way. i think conditions are more important than just using more spawn
spawning BRF to bulk is exactly what i did for my first grow instead of fruiting in a FC. i don’t see any reason to fruit cakes when you can just make a shoebox. it’s pretty hard to fuck up
moving to agar is worth the jump. pastywhyte’s pasty plates are so ridiculously easy & grains are sick

Ive heard that 1:1 ratio works great. So a half pint PF Tek cake would need a half pint of processed coir (ie moisturized coir after u bucket tek the coir). Aand if u have say 2 pints worth of PF Tek cakes then add 2 pints worth of processed coir (as mentioned in the last sentence).
