Your next prez - the religious one or the religious one?
    #2644232 - 05/06/04 05:17 AM (16 years, 9 months ago)

Never one to let an opportunity to evangelize slip by, J (for Jesus?) F Kerry preaches to the multitudes:

From http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A64018-2004May3.html

In animated tones, he spoke of his first visit to Israel, which he said was under the auspices of the ADL and the late Leonard P. "Lenny" Zakim, longtime director of the group's New England chapter. Kerry said he went to the Golan Heights, visited the Sea of Galilee and "actually stood on the Mount of the Beatitudes and read the Sermon on the Mount to those gathered with me."

So.... did Kerry get the idea from Bill Frist or did Frist get the idea from Kerry? Who was first?

from http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/002/136abfjd.asp

On one memorable day during a tour of Israel, Senator Frist stood on the spot where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount and read the sermon to the tour group. He electrified them with his simple faith and devotion.

Who do we atheists get to vote for?

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like either party is going to take an even-handed approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict anytime soon.

I think this is cool, but I'm sure lots of people hate it, but the current congress is the most pro-Israel we have ever had. A huge percentage of members of both parties have visited Israel courtesy of the Israeli embassy, not because of religous faith, but because they recognize the historical and religous significance of the area in Western culture, and support Israel's right to exist and not be murdered by terrorists.

I think Kerry is posing and Frist is serious, but not everyone who visits Israel makes it a religous photo op.
I'm Buddhist and I have no problem voting for a Christian because I know they practice some good values, and I think good Christians have strong character. They may me wrong in alot of their beliefs, and at times intolerant, but it's better that they be principled, altruistic and intolerant, rather than nihilist, selfish, and intolerant like some atheists I know.

Kerry then struck a stone and commanded water to come out.

Ah. But the question is, who displayed the humility first? Kerry or Frist?
