Need help figuring out what went wrong. RIP to a bunch of jars, time & money.

I posted about this earlier, but I’d figure I’d go into detail as I really want to figure out where I could have gone wrong.

So far I lost 10/20 jars of popcorn to pin mold. Each jar I tossed had some amount of growth like this. I’m super disheartened. This was my first time sterilizing my own grain, I did tons of homework and did everything to what I would say is damn near exactly by the book. It it took me a while to dial in moisture content etc, maybe 4 batches or so before I was confident enough to inoculate jars.
Here’s what I did to sterilize my popcorn: Rinse Pressure cook with gypsum at 15psi until popcorn is hydrated, some bursted kernels. Strain popcorn & lay out to dry. Pick bursted kernels while drying Once moisture content is right, load jars. My jar lids are standard with self healing injection ports, GE holes and micropore tape covering them. I cover the lids with two layers of tinfoil and rubber bands Pressure sterilize for 90min @15psi Wait for PC to cool Shake jars/redistribute moisture inoculate next day
I inoculated with different MS syringes purchased from a reputable source. Used a SAB, had everything sterilized. Flame sterilized the needle w an alcohol lamp etc.
One thing that concerned me was moisture on the micropore tape covering the GE. After pressure sterilizing, the micropore tape would be wet, even under two layers of tinfoil. I know this is because of the moisture already in the jar escaping while PC’ing, but I was told this wasn’t going to be an issue. Is it possible the wet micropore tape somehow got contam on it while drying and it seeped in? We’re the spore syringes tam’d? Any advice is appreciated. So much time and resources wasted..
Edit: I have everything needed for agar, just waiting on a couple prints which will arrive tuesday.

If the contam happened where the inoculation point was, it’s most likely that the inoculant was contaminated from the get go.

Spore syringes are inherently dirty that's why spores to grain isnt recommended

I shook the hell out of the jars after inoc, so it was kinda in random spots.

Next time just squirt a little up against the glass and dont shake, so you can tell whether the issue was your inoculant or something else.

Better yet, next time don't inoculate with a ms syringe. Squirt a little up against an agar plate and clean it up before inoculation.

Ms to grains works if the ms syringe is clean, its far from the ideal method but if you don’t mind throwing away some jars its totally A valid way to grow mushrooms. If the contaminant is in the syringe (which seems like a definite possibility) then you wont be able to pull it off no matter that you try and agar will be necessary, until them I’m giving him an easily actionable step to determine what the cause of his problem was

Are you following proper PC procedure? Letting the steam vent for 20 minutes before putting the weight on?
The rubber band is counter productive. Hydration teks are written up for just foil. You're trapping extra moisture in the jars and on the lid. If you're having issues with hydration, another grain like oat or rye is much easier to hydrate.
Don't shake after inoculation, ditch the rubber bands, and start working agar. If you're going to follow a tek, follow the tek.

You used a syringe. All other variables are moot until you are not using that method anymore. It's like 97% likely the syringe. I'd like to say 100% but that seems too confident.

Good info, what’s the significance of letting the PC steam vent for 20 min before putting the weight on?

That doesn't look like pin mold to me. That looks like wispy mycelium. I would say you misidentified.

I'd say either syringe issue or bad filter. MP tape isn't the best
