Hey all S.E. Queenslander here After these major droughts in Australia we are fineally seing some decent rain (200mm in 24 hours) and my local fields are starting produce fungi again yaaay!
Today (3 days since that 200mm Of rain) I have found 7 small-medium sized Cubensis. Not many but I think it's because the long drought and things are just slowly kicking back into gear?
Now I I have concern that someone may have beat me to the field, since I only found a few small Cubensis. The other thing is in some of the cow patties that I found the Cubensis in there a lot of these tiny little things sprouting out of the poo. Some kind of look like pins and others look like a clean cut stem base of a mushroom, but very hollow. When I pick these out and squeeze them there are those little seed looking things inside them. I don't think they are the base of a cut of mushroom because they have these seeds in them but I don't know... Does any body know what these are??
Many thanks Light your path with love

Those a cyathus or birds nest fungi. The drought definitely could have an impact from my experience. Give it time and it will be ok.

Thanks for the diagnosis Doctors
I had half resigned myself to 'oh well, at least someone's enjoying them'.
Interesting paper, what a funky way to spread a seed.
Found another hand full today, same dried weight as what I found the other day (2.5g) but far more little ones all over the place as opposed to the few chunkier ones I first found.
I'm lucky and am surrounded by cow fields and the bushland behind my house has cows going though it to get from field to field. After the first rain in months (under 10mm in 12 hours) I've been going out every day and monitoring the fungal growth. Very interesting seeing what pops up when with what amount of rain. Much clearer growth patterns compared to when there wasn't a drought before hand or when there is just a single massive down pour!
Thanks again for the info!

Is it Cyathus that degrades nitroglycerin to a non combustible,or was that something else?...... Cyathus stercoreus was the quickest of four species to degrade and detoxify TNT, The Fungal Pharmacy quote
