light coir casing/patching after first flush?

I just harvested a tub with a really nice, dense set of fruits. While I did the best I could to keep things kosher, the substrate got pretty dicked up...a lot more than usual for me.
I'm thinking about adding a thin layer of pasteurized coir to even things back up and prep it for a decent second flush. Just enough to patch in the holes, and otherwise be about 1/4 of an inch. Or I could just lightly patch any holes. The latter might make more sense.
The original sub is CVG. I would be doing this either with straight coir or CVG.
So. Bad idea? Theoretically it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I've never done this before, and I'm wondering if anyone else out there has. Can anybody advise me against this, or alternatively let me know from prior experience if it's cool and not likely to contaminate? Should I go ahead with this plan, or just let things roll as is for the second flush and hope for the best? Thanks in advance.

I don't see why it would be a problem. There's nothing in coir to support the growth of contaminants. That's why it works so well.
Case in point: just dumped a closed-up humidity chamber that I've been ignoring for five months. Looked and smelled like the day I prepped it.

Where if you're alone, you know, you either come through it or you die, but in any case you avoid the fuss.'" - Terrence McKenna

Thanks for the input man. I think the only thing might be an uneven pinset, i.e the places that aren’t patched fruiting before the places where I put CVG, since the patched areas will have to recolonize.
