ID unknown specimen
    #26441155 - 01/19/20 04:48 AM (4 years, 29 days ago)

Habitat:
Growing out of clay on the side of the hill. Northern NSW. Sub tropical, summer

Gills:
White with yellowish tinge. Didn't do a spore print.

Stem:
About 10cm, hollow, thick yellow and kinda bent out of shape

Cap:
Large, has lines kind of like the gills as a pattern. Brown spot in middle, yellow elsewhere

Interested by these because it's growing directly out of compacted clay which is usually extremely dry but after the 200, odd ml of rain we've had its less so.

Compare to leucocoprinus birnbaumii, which is common in potted plants. Could be a closely related species in that genus.

I’d say it is birnbaumii. In the Northern Hemisphere it is common in potted plants or in artificially heated soils like in a greenhouse. Southern Hemisphere, subtropical environments, it likely grows naturally. The only thing I see differing between yours and mine is the stipe growth. But like koraks said, it could be a closely related species.

Yep I'd say that's the one. Thanks
